Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Strong mechanical, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work outdoors in various conditions.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, safety-focused, and detail-oriented.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to work outside using hand tools and electric or pneumatic maintenance equipment and tools.
  • They are regularly required to walk, stoop, bend, climb ladders, work inside tight quarters as well as talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Field-based role with regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, crawling and use of hand/power tools.
  • May include after-hours or weekend on-call rotations for emergency service.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of propane service or gas installation experience preferred.
  • Current CETP certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair propane systems including tanks, regulators, piping, appliances, and related equipment in accordance with NFPA 58 and NFPA 54.
  • Perform leak checks, pressure tests, and safety inspections on new and existing systems.
  • Conduct tank set installations (above-ground and underground), ensuring compliance with clearance and code requirements.
  • Replace or adjust regulators, valves, and pigtails as needed.
  • Install and service propane-fueled appliances such as water heaters, ranges, and heating systems.
  • Respond to out-of-gas calls, leak reports, and emergency service requests in a timely, professional manner.
  • Document all service activities accurately — including test results, tank serial numbers, and work performed.
  • Educate customers on safe propane use, odor recognition, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, and service truck in safe working order.
  • Comply with company safety policies, OSHA standards, and all state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in ongoing training and certification programs (CETP, state licensing, safety refreshers).
