About The Position

Markets and sells all liquid propane and accounts receivable within assigned territory, including securing new clients and increasing sales volume to existing clients. This role establishes a route system in the delivery territory and calls on all clients or potential clients to obtain orders for propane products. The specialist acts as the sole sales contact between GROWMARK and clients, adhering to GROWMARK's sales and marketing strategies and attending necessary training. The position is responsible for meeting sales goals, promoting FS credit / Agri-Finance, and recording sales and delivery information. A preferred prospect list must be maintained, and prospective customers called upon to solicit new business. The role involves preparing order forms and sales contracts, communicating marketing programs, and distributing sales promotion materials. Adherence to the company credit policy, checking credit history, and explaining the policy to new customers is required. A signed equipment lease contract must be obtained before servicing an account, and accounts receivable must be maintained according to company policy. The specialist will respond to all complaints and ensure satisfactory settlement, while also maintaining plant and company inventory according to company standards and controlling shrink. Orders will be fulfilled from stock in the company vehicle, and propane products will be delivered to fill client orders as necessary. Vehicle and equipment must be maintained in safe operating condition, and a record of company-owned tanks and equipment must be kept.

Requirements

  • Daily independent travel within sales territory with occasional overnight stays.
  • Normally requires a high school diploma, or equivalent, and minimum 1 year sales experience.
  • Demonstrated essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
  • Where required by law, must possess or obtain a selling or solicitor’s license.
  • Depending on experience, required to maintain or have the ability to acquire and maintain an Energy Advisor (EA) certification OR CPS (Certified Propane Specialist) certification.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat endorsement and satisfactory driving record.
  • Frequently exposed to extreme weather conditions.
  • Working conditions may occasionally include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures.
  • Occasionally may be required to work at varying heights.
  • Frequently required to lift 51lbs – 70lbs
  • Must be willing to work hours beyond those considered “normal.”
  • Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.

  • Maintains a preferred prospect list and calls on prospective customers to solicit new business.
  • Prepares order forms and sales contracts.
  • Communicates marketing programs and distributes sales promotion materials to customers and prospects.
  • Adheres to and supports the company credit policy, checking credit history of patron before making a sale, and explaining policy to new customers.
  • Obtains signed equipment lease contract prior to servicing an account.
  • Maintains accounts receivable according to company credit policy.
  • Responds to all complaints and follows through to assure satisfactory settlement.
  • Maintains plant and company inventory according to company standards, controlling shrink at an acceptable level.
  • Fulfills orders obtained from stock maintained in company vehicle and/or loads, drives, and delivers propane products to fill orders obtained from clients as necessary.
  • Maintain vehicle and equipment in safe operating condition.
  • Develop and maintain a record of company owned tanks and equipment.
  • Conduct pressure tests to assure the integrity of the system prior to placing a system into service or in the event service is interrupted.
  • Maintain records of all regulators, including date of manufacture, and changes regulators as necessary.
  • Perform leak tests on customer systems as required.
  • Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
