About The Position

As our Proofreader, you’ll be a critical quality checkpoint before creative work reaches our clients and customers. Every email, website, mobile experience, landing page, banner, menu, POP display, sign, and marketing asset that passes through Maverick Studios has a story to tell, and you’ll help make sure that story is accurate, polished, and on-brand. You’ll partner closely with Client Relations & Planning, Creative Services, Digital Production, CRM/Email Operations, Studio Operations, and Brand teams to catch issues before they become problems. From grammar and formatting to pricing, product details, accessibility, and functionality, you’ll help protect the quality and integrity of the work we deliver across all six Inspire Brands. This position is required onsite 4 days per week, typically Monday- Thursday.

Requirements

  • Minimum: 4 yr degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • 3+ years of proofreading, copyediting, content review, quality assurance, or a related creative, marketing, publishing, production, or digital environment.
  • Exceptional command of grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, style, and language usage, including familiarity with AP, Chicago, or comparable editorial conventions.
  • Experience with on-screen/PDF proofing and, when applicable, hard-copy review methods.
  • Ability to compare outputs against approved source materials and identify subtle inconsistencies.
  • Experience reviewing customer-facing content across digital and traditional marketing channels, including web, mobile, email, social, display, print, signage, POP, or related formats.
  • Ability to review digital experiences for content, visual, functional, and accessibility concerns and communicate issues clearly to Creative, Product, and Production partners.
  • Ability to work across multiple brands and quickly shift between brand voice, terminology, formatting, and campaign requirements.
  • Catch the small things others may miss, from misplaced punctuation and pricing discrepancies to incorrect SKUs, disclaimers, links, versioning, and timeline details.
  • Strong prioritization, workload management, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple reviews and shifting deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
  • A clear, proactive communicator who provides constructive feedback and coordinates effectively with creatives, project teams, production partners, and marketing stakeholders.
  • A dependable, approachable, and accountable team partner who works well across disciplines, personalities, and brands.

Nice To Haves

  • Retail, foodservice, or merchandising experience is a plus.
  • A background in graphic design, print production, publishing, merchandising, or an in-house marketing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer-facing content for spelling, punctuation, grammar, syntax, clarity, consistency, and style.
  • Safeguard the voice, tone, terminology, formatting, and standards of six iconic brands.
  • Validate offers, pricing, product names, SKUs, imagery, timelines, disclaimers, legal language, links, calls-to-action, and other critical details against approved source materials.
  • Serve as a critical review point throughout the project lifecycle. Confirm requested changes have been implemented accurately before stakeholder review, production, deployment, or launch.
  • Make sure final copy and content align with approved designs, data, briefs, and client-provided inputs across print and digital deliverables.
  • Evaluate websites, mobile applications, emails, landing pages, banners, and digital campaigns for content accuracy, visual consistency, functionality, accessibility, and production readiness.
  • Identify, document, and communicate issues before they affect customers, brand standards, compliance, timelines, or campaign delivery.
  • Help improve proofreading checklists, documentation, workflows, style guides, and quality standards.
  • Manage multiple reviews and shifting priorities without compromising accuracy or attention to detail.
  • Build trusted partnerships across Creative, Production, Operations, Client Relations, and Brand teams. Provide clear, constructive feedback that helps elevate the work and strengthen the customer experience.
