About The Position

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Project Surveyor to join our team. This role is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, quality assurance/quality control, and completion of survey projects within Westwood’s Power Division. The Project Surveyor will serve as a subject matter expert for survey-related activities, including construction staking, topographic surveying, platting, legal description writing, boundary analysis, exhibit preparation, and legal principles. This position involves working closely with the Project Manager to define project tasks, schedules, and resource requirements, as well as evaluating project budgets, scope, and fees. The role requires ensuring compliance with company standards, policies, and procedures, conducting team meetings for project coordination, and staying current on industry trends, technology, and software. Additionally, the Project Surveyor will provide day-to-day guidance and mentoring to project team staff and is responsible for quality control and assurance related to survey activities, ensuring consistent adherence to division, regional, and company policies. Requirements

  • A professional survey license with multi-state licensure is preferred.
  • Four-year degree preferred and/or 10-plus years of experience in a consulting business.
  • Effective verbal and written communication is necessary and independent judgment is essential.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Handle multiple priorities and projects well.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and implementation of projects and monitors the operational effectiveness throughout.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for survey related activities such as construction staking, topographic surveying, platting, legal description writing, boundary analysis, exhibit preparation, and legal principles.
  • Work with the Project Manager to define project tasks, schedule and resource requirements.
  • Work with Project Manager to evaluate project budget, scope, and fee.
  • Comply with and help the enforcement of company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct team meetings with project team to evaluate and coordinate the project.
  • Stay current on service-specific trends, technology, software, hardware, and equipment.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and mentoring to project team staff as needed.
  • Responsible for quality control and quality assurance related to the survey activities on each project.
  • Ensure division, regional, and company policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service.
  • Lead by example – display solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism.
