About The Position

The Mark Thomas Survey Division is growing fast and is adding a licensed Project Surveyor to the team! The Project Surveyor I collaborates with our talented team of seasoned surveying and engineering staff to deliver public works projects and improve our communities. You will manage project tasks, budgets, staff workload, and schedules while also resolving boundaries, conducting QC on field data, and mentoring junior staff. Requirements

  • PLS in California or PLS in another state with the ability to obtain PLS in California within one year.
  • 6-12+ years of relevant and progressively responsible survey experience to include boundary resolution experience.
  • Possesses appropriate project management skills with respect to deliverables, budget, schedule, and quality.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of survey drafting software.
  • Proficient with survey calculations, principles, terms, and deliverables.
  • Knowledge of survey processing software such as Trimble Business Center (TBC).
  • Proficient knowledge of survey regulations, laws, and boundary resolution.
  • Proficient of field equipment and techniques.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of survey principles and practices.
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provides project oversight with respect to deliverables, quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Provides specific direction and instruction to field crews; provides relevant communications to other project staff, subconsultants, and clients.
  • Designs field surveys.
  • Reviews and reduces all field data.
  • Researches and interprets existing recorded property information; resolves issues.
  • Performs boundary and Right of Way resolutions.
  • Performs field inspections and site walks.
  • Performs quality checks on team members CADD mapping work, legal descriptions, and other survey documents.
  • Coordinates the review and filing of survey deliverables with the appropriate agency.
  • Supervises assigned survey staff members; provides training and mentorship to survey team members.
  • Participates in training, mentorship, and industry activities that contribute to the professional development of staff.
  • Assists in the preparation of proposal packages and exhibits.
  • Acts as a member of the interview team to qualify/disqualify survey candidates; participates in wrap calls and selection of candidates.
