About The Position

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO), is seeking a motivated, results-oriented and detail-focused Project Support Specialist to support the effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of projects within the Department of Communicable Diseases Prevention, Control and Elimination (CDE). This role contributes to strengthening project delivery and results in PAHO. PAHO is the specialized international health agency for the Americas, working with countries throughout the region to improve and protect people's health. It serves as the specialized health agency of the Inter-American System and also as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO). PAHO engages in technical cooperation with its member countries to fight communicable and noncommunicable diseases and their causes, to strengthen health systems, and to respond to emergencies and disasters. PAHO is committed to ensuring that all people have access to the health care they need, when they need it, with quality and without fear of falling into poverty. Through its work, PAHO promotes and supports the right of everyone to good health. To advance these goals, PAHO promotes technical cooperation between countries and works in partnership with ministries of health and other government agencies, civil society organizations, other international agencies, universities, social security agencies, community groups, and other partners. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in management, business administration or any other field related to the functions of the post, from a recognized university.
  • Three years of combined national and international experience in project management or data management and development of health information systems.
  • Fluency in English or Spanish with working knowledge of the other language.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use current technology and MS Office software, spreadsheets and presentations, SharePoint management and control tools as well as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and other management information systems.
  • Knowledge of software programs such as Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, Word are considered essential.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of project management, including results-based management.
  • Ability to support planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting of projects and grants.
  • Strong skills in data control, analysis, and assessment.
  • Ability to support financial and programmatic implementation of projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including preparation of reports and presentations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to support operational decision-making.

Nice To Haves

  • Specific training or certification in Project Management from a recognized institution.
  • Knowledge of Portuguese and/or French.
  • Knowledge and experience with Power BI.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for the development, implementation, monitoring, control, reporting, and evaluation of departmental projects, in close coordination with project managers and technical teams.
  • Support the preparation and consolidation of project work plans, as well as periodic and ad hoc technical and financial reports related to grants and funds.
  • Provide technical support to optimize programmatic and budgetary implementation, including monitoring and evaluation of grants from external donors.
  • Support strategic, financial, and operational planning activities, including performance monitoring and assessment exercises.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, partner organizations, and other stakeholders to facilitate the effective implementation of programmed activities in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
