About The Position

Universal Rail Solutions Inc. is seeking a Project Supervisor to manage field crews, coordinate daily operations, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in line with company and client expectations. The Project Supervisor is responsible for managing and directing field crews to deliver successful projects by meeting or exceeding corporate and project goals. This role is critical to ensuring safety, quality of workmanship, schedule performance, profitability, and customer satisfaction. The Project Supervisor leads from the front, setting expectations, coaching crews, and coordinating resources to ensure effective execution in the field.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • High school diploma
  • 5+ years of railway supervisory experience, such as Foreman or equivalent
  • Experience in the railway or construction industry
  • Strong understanding of project management and scheduling methods
  • Valid certification or training in: Canadian Railway Operating Rules (CROR), Track Inspection Guidelines (TIG), PTS, First Aid, WHMIS, Confined Space, CSTS, and other mandatory safety training (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, and people-management skills
  • Excellent customer-relations and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to perform physical field work, including bending and lifting
  • Safe use of hand and power tools
  • Strong vision and hearing suitable for a safety-sensitive role
  • Able to lead, motivate, and direct teams effectively
  • Sound judgment and the ability to provide clear direction
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Champion a strong safety culture by educating crews, enforcing safe work practices, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Ensure proper safety equipment is available and used by all field personnel
  • Pre-plan work activities with the Operations Manager and Track Manager, including development of safety action plans and work methods
  • Plan and manage day-to-day field operations, ensuring labour, equipment, and materials are in place to meet project schedules
  • Take responsibility for crew performance related to safety audits, productivity, and adherence to company policies
  • Conduct tailgate meetings and initiate follow-up actions, including training, orientation, or discipline as required
  • Monitor crew productivity and analyze performance against expectations
  • Conduct daily crew briefings to review: Production goals, Performance feedback, Safety and hazards, Schedule updates, Worker input and feedback
  • Develop, organize, and communicate work schedules and goals to crew members
  • Review contracts, drawings, and project documentation to ensure work is completed to current specifications and approved methods
  • Communicate regularly with the Operations Manager, Track Manager, Project Manager, General Contractor, and customers to maintain strong relationships and customer satisfaction
  • Coordinate work activities with subcontractors
  • Complete administrative duties, including: Production reports, Timesheets, Equipment logs, Inspection reports, Change orders, Project file updates
  • Provide coaching, instruction, and support to crew members
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in work processes and methods
