About The Position

In accordance with Assets, Inc. core values and mission, the Project Supervisor of Print Services Bindery Support is responsible for supervising and supporting the Bindery Helpers in the Print Shop. This position provides daily instruction, coaching, and work coordination while fostering a safe, productive, and inclusive work environment. The Print Services Bindery Support Supervisor works closely with the Print Services Manager to ensure supported employees are successfully integrated into production activities that match their abilities while contributing to the operational goals of the department. This position ensures that assigned customer projects are accurately finished, packaged, sorted, and prepped for delivery while maintaining production schedules, quality standards, safety practices, and efficient workflow. This position may require de-escalating verbally or physically aggressive individuals according to identified procedures and individual client protocols and provides direct labor according to company safety rules and established parameters.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • One (1) year of related experience and/or training required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Alaska driver's license and insured vehicle required.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check under the state regulations.
  • Proof of driver’s license, vehicle insurance and educational credentials must be presented at time of hire.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Proficiency working with computers and document control procedures.
  • Good written, organizational, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and work in a dynamic team environment.
  • Able to maintain client confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the company, site and contract.
  • Ability to relate to and coordinate diverse groups of people.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to sit.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift/assist and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to de-escalate verbally or physically aggressive individuals according to identified procedures and individual client protocols.
  • Operating bindery equipment safely, pushing carts of printed materials, and repetitive motion associated with finishing operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
  • Previous working experience and specific technical knowledge related to the Print Service Industry is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Possess a knowledge of skills and techniques used in print shop bindery operations.
  • Knowledge of USPS postal regulations is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Experience coordinating multiple production deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors service delivery and ensures that all daily and periodic tasks are completed as scheduled and according to specified quality standards.
  • Provides daily instruction and coaching.
  • Assists employees in learning new vocational skills, encouraging personal and professional growth.
  • Assists Project Manager with ordering/purchasing supplies.
  • Monitors the supply, equipment, and inventory use at the site.
  • Provides supervision, guidance and training to frontline workers according to the organization’s policies, identified procedures and applicable laws.
  • Assists the Project Manager with the coordination of the Supported Employment program.
  • Ensures site documentation, practices and support services comply with Medicaid standards and adhere to individual support plans (ISP).
  • Communicates with job coaches, case managers and guardians/care providers.
  • Works with and provides support to individuals with mental illness or intellectual developmental disabilities.
  • Ensures transportation for employees as required.
  • Performs direct labor (including hands-on cleaning and janitorial duties) according to company safety rules & established parameters in the Bindery area.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of all necessary paperwork required by the department or Assets, Inc.
  • Increases safety awareness and actively promotes safety at the print shop site.
  • Provides safety training and hazardous chemical communications training to site employees.
  • Ensures site safety rules are followed at all times and reports safety hazards or violations immediately.
  • Maintains regular, consistent and open communications with the Project Manager about the well-being of the print shop, site challenges or concerns, suggestions, customer complaints, employee issues, etc.
  • Develops and maintains pro-active and assistive relationships with the customer, Assets management, site employees and served individuals and their family members.
  • Completes all trainings required for this position.
  • Actively participates in required site and company meetings.
  • May be required to work at multiple designated work sites or may be reassigned as needed to other contract work sites.
  • Works a fixed schedule, Monday through Friday, minus holidays.
  • Assists in or individually de-escalates verbally or physically aggressive individuals according to identified procedures and individual client protocols.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
  • Provides supervision, mentoring and vocational training to Bindery Helpers employed at the Print Shop.
  • Ensures a safe, secure and comfortable work environment for employees.
  • Assisting Project Manager with interviewing and hiring
  • Providing orientation/on-the-job training to new staff and monitoring on-going individual and team training needs
