About The Position

The Superintendent will serve as the primary onsite construction lead responsible for overall project execution, quality control, safety compliance, scheduling coordination, and day-to-day management of subcontractors and field operations. This position requires a hands-on superintendent with strong experience managing occupied healthcare facility construction, subcontractor coordination, safety compliance, infection control measures, and phased construction operations within active medical environments.

Requirements

  • OSHA 30.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent on commercial or federal construction projects.
  • Experience working in occupied healthcare facilities.
  • Strong understanding of infection control procedures, ICRA barriers, and phased construction.
  • Experience coordinating mechanical, electrical, BAS/DDC controls, and low-voltage systems.
  • Ability to manage subcontractors and maintain project schedules in active operational environments.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Ability to pass VA security and background requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • VA Medical Center or federal healthcare construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and EM 385-1-1.
  • Experience with Siemens Desigo or Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Experience with VA Quality Control and commissioning processes
  • Healthcare renovation and retrofit experience
  • Experience with phased shutdown coordination and utility tie-ins

Responsibilities

  • Provide full-time onsite supervision and coordination of all construction activities.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, and field personnel.
  • Oversee phased construction activities in occupied hospital environments.
  • Coordinate mechanical, controls, electrical, low-voltage, and firestopping trades.
  • Maintain compliance with VA specifications, safety requirements, and quality control standards.
  • Enforce site safety procedures, infection control requirements (ICRA), and Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM).
  • Lead and participate in safety meetings, inspections, and Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) reviews.
  • Coordinate utility shutdowns and minimize disruptions to hospital operations.
  • Ensure compliance with approved project schedules and phasing requirements.
  • Maintain project documentation including daily reports, QC documentation, deficiency tracking, and field coordination logs.
  • Participate in commissioning activities, inspections, and final project turnover.
  • Coordinate restoration activities including ceiling replacement, wall patching, painting, and firestopping.
  • Serve as primary onsite liaison with VA personnel, subcontractors, and project management.
