About The Position

The position involves safely supervising and coordinating activities in asphalt paving, grading, milling, and concrete production.

Requirements

  • Over 2 years up to and including 4 years from post high school, work, military, institutional or vocational environment.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in product line and supervisory role.
  • Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with people under high stress situations.
  • Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.

Nice To Haves

  • Paving Supervisor experience preferred.
  • CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee efficiency of gravel/base operation and produce quality gravel/base product.
  • Oversee efficiency of milling operation and base jobs to produce quality gravel/base product.
  • Oversee efficiency of paving operation to produce quality asphalt product.
  • Oversee quality and efficiency of equipment maintenance.
  • Communicate gravel/base crew needs with dispatch and plant.
  • Work with crews, inspectors, and subcontractors to complete projects.
  • Complete quality gravel/base jobs within specifications and necessary paperwork.
  • Deliver samples to the lab.
  • Communicate milling crew needs with dispatch and plant.
  • Communicate paving crew needs with dispatch, calculating truck requirements based on various factors.
  • Communicate needs to the plant.
  • Produce quality asphalt product within specifications.
  • Tour work sites to ascertain progress, ensure compliance with time schedules, and detect insufficient utilization of workers and equipment.
  • Measure slope and thickness of paving to verify compliance.
  • Measure distances from reference points to locate construction boundaries.
  • Direct work crews engaged in operation of vehicles.
  • Verify curvature of graded surface using a hand level.
  • Supervise bituminous paving crews, aggregate production crews, or crews engaged in operating machines to tamp, roll, and smooth surfaces for highway subgrades.
  • Communicate needed information to employees.
  • Assist new employees.
  • Approve and submit work hours for the crew and pertinent job information daily.
  • Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and conditions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
