About The Position

Idaho National Laboratory needs Project Specialists to support groundbreaking innovations that power America's future by ensuring seamless operations for cutting-edge research in nuclear energy, cybersecurity, and advanced infrastructure, helping the laboratory maintain its legacy as a leader in scientific discovery. You'll ensure technical, schedule, and budget baselines are controlled throughout each project phase, provide support to projects by addressing ongoing equipment and staff logistical needs, manage delivery of support services to customers in accordance with individual program and laboratory requirements, and coordinate task activities ensuring all phases are documented appropriately. Your responsibilities include coordinating asset management, program logistics, procurement activities, and administrative support, developing and standardizing processes to address project needs including ordering, purchasing, receiving, and tracking equipment, identifying and developing plans for new project opportunities, interfacing with customers to identify common needs and develop standardized approaches, developing processes and standard operating procedures to support team members with onboarding and offboarding, tracking team activities and access lists, participating in process improvements, and assisting in performance of self-assessments and audits.

Requirements

  • Level 2: Bachelor's Degree in business management, project management, construction management or related and 2 years of relevant experience; or an advanced degree business management, project management, construction management or related.
  • Level 3: Bachelor's Degree in business management, project management, construction management or related and 5 years of relevant experience; or an advanced degree in business management, project management, construction management or related and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” clearance and special accesses as required.
  • When required, must be able to work in a secure work environment to include handling/storing/processing classified and CUI information and adhere to physical and electronic protection standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure technical, schedule, and budget baselines are controlled throughout each phase of a project.
  • Provide support to projects by addressing ongoing equipment and staff logistical needs.
  • Manage the delivery of support services products and services to customers in accordance with individual program, project, and laboratory requirements.
  • Coordinate task activities and ensure all phases of the task(s) are documented appropriately.
  • Responsible for the effective and efficient management and administration of project tasks.
  • Coordinate asset management, program logistics, procurement activities, supporting customers with system needs and questions, process documentation, requirements gathering, and administrative support.
  • Develop and standardize processes to address project needs, including ordering, purchasing, receiving, tracking, deployment, and organizing equipment and software for appropriate projects.
  • Identify, promote, and develop plans for new project opportunities, and recommend best business practices.
  • Originate documents such as execution plans, project plans, and operations guidelines.
  • Interface with customers to identify common needs (including account support and administration) and develop standardized approaches to ensure a high quality of delivery.
  • Develop processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support team members with onboarding/offboarding processes, including the issuance and tracking of equipment, gathering requirements from customers, and producing needed process documentation.
  • Track team activities and access lists.
  • Coordinate internal/external activities in support of project and customer requirements.
  • Participate in process improvements and use innovative approaches to develop solutions to problems within established policy.
  • Assist in the performance of self-assessments, surveillance appraisals, and audits.
  • Correct identified non-compliance findings and observations.
  • Prepare and submit reports and papers as requested and required.
  • May collaborate and provide input for the organization on matters pertaining to its policies, plans, and goals related to the functional area of responsibility when assigned by the manager.
  • Mentor other staff and/or subcontractors and train as backup for key functions.
