About The Position

Provides daily instruction using the Project SEARCH employability skills curriculum in the training room and reinforces those skills in internships and work habits leading to successful employment. Assists interns in experiencing a variety of opportunities at different departments within the Host Business. Instructs upon maintaining employer expectations including compliance with Host Businesses' rules and regulations. Fosters skill development for Interns so they can become gainfully employed. Trains the Interns to follow directions, attend to task, multi-task, complete tasks, problem solve, work safely, increase productivity, adapt to work routines, and carry out assigned duties in an effective manner. Helps the Interns to acquire appropriate attitudes and work habits, including instruction in social appropriate behaviors on and off the job site. Assists the Interns with meeting the industry standard for their department including adhering to the performance, productivity, stress, stamina, endurance and relationship demands of the workforce. Teaches best practices for problem solving, teamwork, critical thinking, and coping effectively in the workplace. Instructs interns to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers and customers, and on topics related to mobility about the appropriate use of job-related facilities, such as lounge areas, lunchrooms/cafeterias; and restrooms. Completes assessments to determine his or her work interests, productivity, and skills. Plans and implements the interns' employment plans through the Employment Planning Meetings. Uses Project SEARCH and Host business assessment tools to evaluate interns' progress and communicate findings to the team. Identifies skills or tasks needing development and adjust instruction as needed and provides interventions for those not meeting their goals. Assists interns with the development of resumes and portfolios that document measurable skills gained, internship experiences, any certifications gained, recommendations, etc. Utilizes the Project SEARCH Portal to complete trainings and view updated materials. Requirements

  • Experience with Project SEARCH employability skills curriculum
  • Ability to instruct and reinforce skills in training rooms and internships
  • Knowledge of employer expectations and Host Business rules/regulations
  • Skill in fostering skill development for gainful employment
  • Proficiency in training interns on task completion, problem-solving, safety, productivity, and work routines
  • Ability to help interns acquire appropriate attitudes and work habits, including social behaviors
  • Understanding of industry standards for performance, productivity, stress, stamina, endurance, and relationships
  • Expertise in teaching problem-solving, teamwork, critical thinking, and coping skills
  • Ability to instruct effective communication with supervisors, coworkers, and customers
  • Proficiency in completing assessments for work interests, productivity, and skills
  • Experience in planning and implementing employment plans
  • Familiarity with Project SEARCH and Host business assessment tools
  • Ability to identify skill/task development needs and adjust instruction
