About The Position

Orbital is seeking a Project Scheduler to join a team of specialists that supports a vast portfolio of projects in the field of Electric Utility Design and Construction. Project types include Transmission substation and line as well as Distribution substation and line. Projects are constructed throughout the Northeast United States. Candidates must possess experience with Electric Utility Transmission and Distribution Projects. This is a fully REMOTE role; candidates located in the EST Time Zone (UTC-4) are preferred as daily responsibilities may require participation in virtual meetings as early as 8 AM EST through 5 PM EST. This position may be filled at the Entry-level, Mid-level or Senior Scheduler level.

Requirements

  • Senior: Bachelor’s Degree in a Related Field (Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or similar) with 5+ Years Scheduling Experience OR 7+ Years Scheduling Experience
  • Mid-level: Bachelor’s Degree in a Related Field (Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or similar) with 2-5 Years Scheduling Experience OR 5+ Years Scheduling Experience
  • Entry-level: Bachelor’s Degree in a Related Field (Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or similar) with 0-2 Years Scheduling Experience OR 2-5 Years Scheduling Experience
  • Experience with Electric Utility Transmission and Distribution Projects
  • Demonstrated proficiency in scheduling software (P6. Microsoft Project)
  • Must exhibit strong written and verbal communication capabilities.
  • Must exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Must exhibit strong organizational skills, be self-motivated, and have ability to prioritize.
  • Must be competent in basic computer programs (Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe).
  • Must be able to work well in a group setting and manage simultaneous tasks.
  • This position requires the ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations and is also subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment.

Responsibilities

  • Inputting project data into the Primavera P6 system, including project activities, durations, resources, and relationships between tasks. Regularly updating and maintaining the schedule as the project progresses.
  • Assisting in monitoring project progress by comparing actual work completed to the planned. Identifying discrepancies and helping to develop corrective action plans.
  • Supporting and producing regular schedule reports and schedule updates for project teams. This may involve extracting data from P6 and presenting it in a clear and concise manner.
  • Assisting in managing project resources by ensuring they are properly assigned to activities and responsible groups are identified accurately.
  • Supporting the identification and analysis of potential schedule risks and assisting in developing mitigation strategies.
  • Working with the project team to collect information, verify progress, and ensure that the schedule reflects the most up-to-date status of the project. Includes hosting and/or attending regularly scheduled project meetings to maintain working knowledge of project status and gather information needed to complete required tasks.
  • Continuously learning and improving knowledge of Primavera P6, project scheduling best practices, and project management processes and practices. Candidate must be willing to ask questions and seek training required to properly execute tasks.
  • Following established scheduling procedures, company guidelines, and industry best practices to maintain data integrity and consistency.
