About The Position

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. FirstEnergy takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. The estimated pay range for this role is $94,775- $133,800. The pay range for certain locations, including the state of New Jersey, include a 20% differential to account for an increased cost of living, making the pay range $113,730- $160,560. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our Project Management Project Controls team as a hybrid Project Scheduler/Primavera P6 Administrator in the Construction and Design Services organization. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the successful planning, scheduling, and execution of projects while also supporting implementation and maintenance of the Primavera P6 scheduling tool. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in project management and scheduling with interest or experience in Primavera P6 software administration. The level at which you join the organization will be determined based on your qualifications and prior experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as project management, engineering, construction management, business administration (or equivalent experience) with 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant work experience in project scheduling, planning, or project management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey information.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications related to project management and scheduling is a plus.
  • Proficiency in project scheduling software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or other industry-standard tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with construction and design services industry practices and terminology is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • As a mid-level scheduler, you would be expected to have more experience and expertise in project scheduling using Primavera P6.
  • As a mid-level scheduler, you should be comfortable working independently and capable of handling more complex projects.
  • As a mid-level scheduler, your responsibilities would involve a higher level of independence in managing schedules and collaborating with project teams.
  • As a mid-level scheduler, you may even be tasked with assisting less experienced schedulers and team members by providing guidance, training, and support.
  • As a senior-level scheduler, you would be considered an expert in project scheduling, with extensive experience in managing complex projects and mentoring less experienced schedulers.
  • As a senior-level scheduler, you would play a critical role in guiding project teams, identifying and/or participating in process improvement initiatives, and ensuring successful project delivery.
  • As a Primavera P6 Administrator, you would be responsible for managing and maintaining the Primavera P6 project management software system within the organization.
  • As a Primavera P6 Administrator, you would play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Primavera P6 environment and will collaborate with various stakeholders to optimize the system’s functionality and ensure data accuracy.
  • Inputting project data into the Primavera P6 system, including project activities, durations, resources, and relationships between tasks.
  • Regularly updating and maintaining the schedule as the project progresses.
  • Assisting in monitoring project progress by comparing actual work completed to the planned schedule.
  • Identifying discrepancies and helping to develop corrective action plans.
  • Supporting and producing regular schedule reports and schedule updates for project managers.
  • Extracting data from P6 and presenting it in a clear and concise manner.
  • Assisting in managing project resources by ensuring they are properly assigned to activities and responsible groups are identified accurately.
  • Supporting the identification and analysis of potential schedule risks and assisting in developing mitigation strategies.
  • Working with the project team to collect information, verify progress, and ensure that the schedule reflects the most up-to-date status of the project.
  • Continuously learning and improving your knowledge of Primavera P6, project scheduling best practices, and project management processes and practices.
  • Following established scheduling procedures, company guidelines, and industry best practices to maintain data integrity and consistency.
  • Manage the setup, configuration, and administration of the Primavera P6 system, including user access, security settings, and customizations.
  • Provide technical support and training to scheduling team to maximize their understanding and proficiency with Primavera P6.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of project data, including project schedules, resources, and other relevant Primavera P6 data.
  • Continuously improve the Primavera P6 system’s performance and functionality to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to integrate Primavera P6 with other relevant systems.
  • Identify and resolve issues and errors related to Primavera P6 promptly to minimize disruptions in project planning and execution.
  • Develop and generate standard and ad-hoc reports using Primavera P6 to support project management decision-making processes.
  • Work with analysts in the transition to and development of PowerBI Reporting.
  • Propose and implement process improvements related to Primavera P6 usage to enhance project planning, monitoring, and control.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and trends related to Primavera P6 and advocate for their adoption within the organization.
  • Maintain detailed documentation related to system configurations, user guides, and procedures for Primavera P6 administration and support.
