About The Position

SHORT TERM PROJECT : Construction Contractor’s Site Specific Safety Officer. Replacing a fire alarm system in government office building. Located in Washington, DC. 45 Independence Ave SW Washington, DC 20515. As a Corr Safety professional, you will gain a vast range of experience in several different industries all while having the support of a group of highly qualified safety professionals. Primary industries include the Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, Power Generation and New Construction. Roles commonly consist of; Site Safety Lead for a site owner or contractor, Field Safety Representative, or Safety technician. Requirements

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Trained Supervisor (STS), and/or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
  • OSHA 30 hr. Construction in the past 5 years.
  • EM 385-1-1 Construction Safety Hazard Awareness Course for Constructors. A certificate is considered current for 5 years from the date of training completion.
  • USACE Quality Management for Contractors certification.
  • Maintain competency through at least 24 hours of documented safety & health related coursework every year for the past 5 years with training for competent persons status for at least the following (4) areas of competency: Excavation; Scaffolding; Fall Protection; Hazardous Energy, Confined Space.
  • A minimum of 10 years of safety work on similar project
  • Shall be onsite 100% of the time per shift and present at all high-risk activities. High risk activities running concurrently must have safety present at all work locations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a trusting working relationship with the client.
  • Identify areas of improvement of the safety program through a gap analysis.
  • Read, review and effectively execute a client’s Health and Safety Program.
  • Develop and conduct Safety Orientations and Training
  • Investigate specific incidents and identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Provide risk assessments and training to reduce risk in various workplaces.
  • Conduct Audits, identify safety hazards, effectively record and communicate observation.
  • Present safety information to employees and management.
  • Develop site specific Health and Safety Programs as well as emergency action plans.
  • Review accident reports and document accidents using the proper forms and protocols, inspect facilities.
  • Conduct personal and atmospheric air sampling.
  • Develop detailed pre-job Job Hazard Assessments
  • Install or oversee the installation of safety devices and protective equipment.
  • Develop client relationships and look for new business opportunities.
