About The Position

The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is hiring a Project Review Assistant, listed under the state role title Environmental Specialist I. DCR is Virginia’s lead conservation agency, working to provide outdoor recreation, strengthen communities’ flood resilience, and protect clean water, parks, natural habitats, and open spaces. Its mission is to conserve the natural, scenic, historic, and cultural resources of the Commonwealth.

This wage/seasonal position is limited to 1,500 hours during the May 1 to April 30 period and is based in an office. Wage employees are not eligible for Commonwealth benefits such as health care or paid leave. They may participate, at their own expense, in tax-deferred compensation programs, supplemental disability insurance, and supplemental retirement accounts available through the Commonwealth’s provider network. DCR also offers the employee park admission, parking, and qualifying overnight-stay discounts described in the posting.

Requirements

• Experience with ArcGIS Pro.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, including data entry into Access.
• Experience working independently in a multitasking team environment.
• Experience in roles requiring attention to detail.
• A valid driver’s license is required to operate a state vehicle or a personal vehicle while conducting official business on behalf of the agency.
