About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer with 5-10 years of experience to join their Water Division on a NYCDEP construction project in Staten Island, NY. This role involves supporting the Resident Engineer in managing construction oversight, ensuring site safety, and acting as a liaison between design staff and contractors. The position requires technical knowledge of municipal infrastructure, water and wastewater facilities, and general building projects.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction or a related field of study
  • Prior experience as an Office Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer for NYC projects.

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years’ experience with at least 5 years of Assistant Resident Engineering or office engineering experience for NYCDEP or NYCDDC.
  • Professional Engineer - New York (active)
  • Active participation in regional or national professional associations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the firm’s day-to-day construction oversight/Asst. Resident Engineering efforts on a major NYCDEP infrastructure upgrade contract.
  • Assist the Resident Engineer in managing the inspection staff and the delivery of daily inspector reports.
  • Manage office staff responsible for record keeping, general correspondence, and compiling/drafting reports and deliverables.
  • Assist the RE in managing overall site safety and permit condition compliance.
  • Act as liaison to design staff to respond to Contractors’ RFIs and review of shop drawings.
  • Monitor contractor performance, schedule, overall responsiveness and effectiveness, and exert influence to maintain project goals regarding cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Provide technical review of construction plans and specifications and project changes for constructability and practicality.
  • Support the review, preparation, and processing of Contractor payments by Project Controls staff.
  • Assist the RE in leading meetings and preparation of meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Use effective oral and written communication skills to lead progress, project, safety, scheduling, and other contract administration meetings with clients, local agencies, and the community.
