About The Position

The role of Project Quality Manager directly supports the company’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. As the Project Quality Manager (PQM) you will act as the voice of the Customer in relation to Quality from contract signature to delivery of the project to the Service. The PQM will ensure that the quality of the WTG delivery meets the Customer's specifications following Nordex processes. PQM is responsible for ensuring effective quality management and quality control throughout the customer's project. This responsibility covers the early Sales negotiation stage, during the whole Project Execution phase until final handover of the project to the Client and Service. PQM shall support the project Quality topics, being the link between the PM, site Quality team and the Quality focal points of the different Nordex production units and suppliers. The PQM has the authority for all Quality aspects in order to secure a safe and successful realization of the completion of the project in terms of cost, quality, and time. The PQM should also act as the contact person, through the PM, for all Quality-related client claims or queries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in engineering or technical background equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Project Quality Manager or alike in operative project execution and construction management for complex technical projects either in civil construction, manufacturing and plant engineering industry
  • Experience working in Quality Control roles or quality related fields.
  • Experience in the wind energy sector and/or similar industries/energy sectors
  • Experience with developing Quality Management Systems such as APQP and ISO9001.
  • Leadership skills and ability to create a strong and successful team.
  • Efficient in terms of time and cost saving.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills in English language (spoken and written).
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Strong personal planning & organization skills.
  • High level of commitment, proactivity, and dedication.
  • Ability to work with different business cultures.
  • Proficient software skills utilizing: MS Office basic programs (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Wind farm and turbine control software and apps (ServiceNow, UPVISE, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
  • Systematic problem solving and safety orientated behavior.

  • The position requires a high willingness and flexibility to travel.
  • Willingness to continuously expand one’s knowledge (especially regarding technology developments).
  • Be well versed in the Nordex quality processes and procedures from Sales through to the client’s final acceptance.
  • Ability to successfully complete all Canadian regulatory laws surrounding pre-employment screening requirements.
  • Must be able to work in Canada with no Company sponsorship and have the ability to obtain a US passport.
  • Ability to travel domestic and international locations to project sites and on business as required.
  • Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Sales team during the Offer and Tendering phase, reviewing the Quality requirements that the potential customer requires from Nordex
  • Develop and manage Project Quality Plans for responsible North American projects.
  • Transfer contractual Quality Requirements component manufacturing quality focal points. Monitor that these requirements are being implemented correctly in the manufacturing process and obtain contractual Quality Deliverables from manufacturing
  • Coordinate customer audit and inspection visits. Monitoring the actions and tasks derived from these visits and inform the customer accordingly
  • Management of major non-conformities found during transportation of WTG components to the site and found during Installation and Commissioning on-site. Ensuring proper corrective actions are implemented and verified effective.
  • Quality focal point for customer claims during the project as well as claims again internal and external suppliers.
  • Guide and ensure quality of on-site performance with assistance of the on-site Installation Quality team.
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate and complete transfer of all quality topics during the handover of the project between PM and O&M teams
  • Other Duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
  • Properly use applicable safety equipment, including but not limited to eye protection, hearing protectors, steel-toe boots, and hard hats. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Speak and understand English fluently to effectively communicate safety and job-related information, follow safety instructions, and collaborate with English-speaking supervisors and team members.
