About The Position

The Project Quality Engineer role at ESS Changshu is responsible for ensuring quality throughout the project lifecycle, from initial quotes to final release. This involves defining quality targets, planning assurance measures, assessing project status, and identifying process improvements. The role also includes supporting the project team, coordinating with other quality roles, and assisting with internal and external audits. Additionally, the position involves QMS implementation, customer support for quality issues, and acting as an interface between global customer quality and the plant.

Requirements

  • Professional experience in the automotive business.
  • Experience in quality management, product development (related to the assigned areas) for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Communication skills and ability to work with an international team.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit (assess and negotiate) quality-related requirements during quotes and acquisitions.
  • Define quality targets and plan quality assurance measures based on internal and customer requirements (e.g., QA-Plan, Customer APQP).
  • Approve process tailoring for assigned process areas.
  • Regularly and independently assess the project and report the project QA status (work product maturity and process conformance).
  • Perform release audits and provide release recommendations.
  • Identify process improvements based on project work.
  • Initiate corrective actions for product and process non-conformities and escalate if applicable.
  • Support and coach the project team in quality and process-related items.
  • Coordinate QA measures with other QA-related roles in the project (e.g., customer quality, QMPP, NPLM, SQM).
  • Support internal and external audits (e.g., Safe Launch, PPAP, VDA 6.3, IATF 16949).
  • Coordinate QMS implementation within the local segment team (PM, R&D etc.).
  • Provide fast response and joint analysis support at the customer side.
  • Provide technical support for customers.
  • Support critical quality issue coordination, monitoring & reporting.
  • Act as an interface between global Customer Quality ESS and the plant.
  • Perform other quality-relevant tasks assigned by the supervisor.
