About The Position

Lead Procurement for World-Class Mission-Critical Infrastructure Delivering hyperscale data centers at scale requires materials, equipment, and services to arrive at the right place, at the right time, and in alignment with demanding construction schedules. Effective procurement is critical to maintaining supply continuity, protecting project milestones, controlling costs, and positioning field teams for successful execution. As a Project Procurement Manager with Michels Infrastructure Solutions, you will lead the procurement strategy and team supporting a major data center construction project. You will work across project teams and the Michels Family of Companies to coordinate purchasing activities, manage critical suppliers, mitigate supply chain risk, and ensure procurement remains aligned with the overall construction plan. Position Overview As a Project Procurement Manager, you will lead all procurement activities supporting a major hyperscale data center construction project. You will develop and execute the project procurement strategy, lead assigned procurement professionals, manage supplier relationships, and ensure purchasing activities remain aligned with project schedules, budgets, quality standards, commercial requirements, and procurement governance. A key part of this role is coordinating procurement across the Michels Family of Companies supporting the project. You will maintain visibility into purchasing activities, supplier commitments, long-lead materials, manufacturing milestones, inspections, deliveries, and potential supply chain risks across multiple scopes and business units. Success requires strong procurement and commercial expertise, leadership capabilities, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams. You will play a critical role in ensuring procurement readiness, maintaining supply continuity, protecting project milestones, and supporting successful construction execution.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
10+ years of progressive experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain management, commercial management, or a related function.
Demonstrated experience managing procurement activities for mid- to large-scale construction, industrial, EPC, infrastructure, or data center projects.
Experience leading procurement activities against complex construction schedules, budgets, delivery milestones, and project objectives.
Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate procurement, supply chain, commercial, supplier, and schedule risks.
Strong knowledge of purchasing processes, procurement governance, commercial terms, supplier relationship management, and supply chain practices.
Experience developing and managing project procurement schedules, including long-lead equipment and material planning.
Experience with supplier expediting, manufacturing milestone tracking, inspection coordination, logistics, and delivery management.
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop procurement teams, including buyers, Procurement Specialists, and expeditors.
Ability to coordinate across multiple business units and influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
Experience working closely with Project Management, Project Controls, Scheduling, Engineering, Construction, Finance, Legal, Quality, and HSE functions.
Ability to interpret procurement data, evaluate commercial information, analyze supplier performance, and communicate procurement status and risks to leadership.
Strong negotiation, communication, organizational, analytical, strategic decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with procurement systems, ERP platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and project reporting tools.
Ability to travel approximately 75% and support long-term onsite project assignments as required, including working within active construction-site environments.

Nice To Haves

CPSM, CSCP, CPCM, or an equivalent supply chain or contracts certification is preferred but not required.
Experience coordinating procurement across affiliated companies or multiple business units within a complex project delivery organization is preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute the project procurement strategy in alignment with the construction schedule, budget, project objectives, and customer requirements.
Lead and coordinate procurement activities across affiliated Michels companies supporting the project's multidisciplinary construction scopes.
Manage and develop procurement professionals assigned to the project, including buyers, Procurement Specialists, and expeditors.
Establish procurement priorities, responsibilities, resource requirements, performance expectations, and reporting standards.
Identify, evaluate, and mitigate procurement, supply chain, commercial, quality, and schedule risks before they impact project execution.
Ensure procurement activities comply with project specifications, approved budgets, delivery requirements, quality standards, and established procurement governance.
Maintain strong supplier relationships and lead commercial interactions supporting project procurement requirements.
Promote a strong health, safety, environment, and quality culture throughout procurement, supplier, and material management activities.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive procurement schedule integrated with the project master schedule.
Track critical procurement milestones including requisitions, bid events, approvals, purchase orders, manufacturing, inspections, shipment, and final delivery.
Maintain visibility into procurement plans, supplier commitments, purchase orders, material availability, and delivery schedules.
Coordinate with Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Project Controls, Scheduling, QA/QC, HSE, Finance, Legal, Risk, and other project stakeholders.
Coordinate purchasing activities across sister companies to ensure individual scope requirements remain aligned with the overall project execution plan.
Monitor supplier performance, manufacturing progress, delivery commitments, and emerging supply chain constraints.
Lead expediting activities and corrective action efforts when procurement delays threaten project milestones.
Identify and escalate cross-company procurement conflicts, schedule impacts, supplier issues, and commercial risks.
Manage supplier relationships while supporting negotiations, commercial commitments, issue resolution, and performance management.
Support resolution of supplier disputes, delivery delays, quality concerns, and other commercial issues in partnership with applicable stakeholders.
Monitor procurement commitments, forecasts, and budget performance in coordination with Project Controls and Scheduling.
Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready procurement documentation, approvals, commercial records, and project files.
Develop and report procurement KPIs, forecasts, risks, supplier performance metrics, and corrective actions to project and business leadership.
Participate in supplier qualification activities, supplier meetings, site visits, and audits as required.
Provide procurement input to project risk assessments, lessons-learned reviews, execution planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Lead, coach, and develop the procurement professionals assigned to the project.
Establish clear priorities and accountability across purchasing, expediting, supplier management, and procurement reporting activities.
Build a collaborative procurement environment that promotes ownership, communication, and timely decision-making.
Partner with procurement teams across affiliated Michels companies to coordinate resources and align purchasing activities.
Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, tools, reporting, and project delivery practices.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement while developing the capabilities of current and future procurement professionals.
