The Rabb-Venable Excellence in Ophthalmology Research Program, founded in 2000, aims to develop clinician scientists in ophthalmology through research opportunities, professional development seminars, mentorship, and career advising. Each year, approximately 100 medical students and ophthalmology trainees present their mentored research at the RV Excellence in Ophthalmology Research Symposium. The Pathway to Success Program supports nearly half of the medical student participants in preparing their ophthalmology residency applications. This Project and Policy Analyst will facilitate the Rabb-Venable Pathway to Success initiative, assisting 45-50 ophthalmology applicants annually in preparing for the SF Match program. Program activities span from February (registration) through the summer (virtual professional development series and an in-person meeting concurrent with the National Medication Association – Ophthalmology Section meeting) and conclude in January with ophthalmology match day. The analyst will apply professional concepts to conduct analytical studies of moderate scope and complexity, addressing policy, research, and procedural issues. This involves analyzing issues, gathering data, evaluating alternatives and best practices, and making sound recommendations.
