About The Position

AES Corporation, a Fortune 500 company and a leader in the global energy revolution, is seeking a Project Planning Engineer for its US Transmission and Distribution (T&D) businesses in Indiana and Ohio. This role is responsible for developing long-term maintenance and investment project plans for the capital budget. The engineer will develop the scope, estimate, and schedule for assigned projects, which include capital investments in asset replacements, maintenance, customer growth, Smart Grid, renewable energy integration, and general operations.

Requirements

  • Four year college degree in engineering, construction management, finance, or related field. Applicable experience in place of a degree will be considered.
  • 5-10 years in capital project and/or portfolio management.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office 365 tools required.
  • Demonstrated project management experience in leading projects through the development process including building scope, estimate, and schedule documents.
  • General understanding of the regulated T&D utility business, assets, and systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results and operate with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communicator both oral and written.
  • Ability to manage and work multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • English language proficiency.

  • Experience with Smart Grid, DER integration, and other trends changing the industry
  • Experience in making presentations to upper management
  • Spanish language proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Create scope of work documents, cost estimates, and schedules for assigned projects engaging engineering and other SMEs as required.
  • Build the project business case using reliability, integrated system planning, and other inputs.
  • Provide bid specifications to Supply Chain in accordance with the procurement process.
  • Compile detailed work plans for the Project Management Organization, Engineering, and Operations teams to execute.
  • Utilize Management of Change and Asset Governance processes for controlling the modification of equipment, systems, and processes.
  • Serve as a representative of the Company as assigned.
