About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Project Planner/Scheduler to join their team in St. John's, NL, to support project managers and engineering teams in delivering design and support projects. This role is part of the project services group and involves working on diverse project types. The position reports to the Planning and Scheduling Manager and can support projects across Canada and overseas. The role involves reviewing project documents, liaising with project teams, establishing work breakdown structures, creating and managing project schedules using industry software, identifying critical paths, conducting review sessions, tracking changes, developing reports, and validating schedules prepared by others. The role also includes supporting other project management and project controls functions as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or an engineering-related field.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in scheduling within Engineering projects.
  • Proficiency in scheduling software; Primavera P6 and MS-Project.
  • Strong English communication and presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification with AACE, PMI, or CMAA is preferred.
  • Experience in diverse project types is preferred.
  • Proficiency in French is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Review project documents and liaise with project teams to identify scope components and requirements.
  • Layout the scope over the work breakdown structure as agreed with project leads and as correlates with the budget structure.
  • Establish project schedules using known industry software to meet project requirements (Primavera P6, MS Project and/or TILOS).
  • Create, arrange, load and assess schedule resources to different schedule levels and adjust/level resources to meet project plans.
  • Identify the critical path and near-critical path using CPM scheduling method and reflect the same along with other schedule assumptions on the basis of the schedule.
  • Conduct review sessions with project teams and clients in order to obtain the team’s buy-in and set schedules as baselines.
  • Confer with project and client teams on a regular basis, track time and sequence changes to update the schedule and issue baseline schedule revisions as applicable.
  • Develop schedule reports and participate in producing regular project reports using EVM and other AtkinsRéalis standard reporting methods.
  • Examine and validate schedules prepared by other parties against project requirements and industry norms and flag schedule quality issues.
  • Support other project management and project controls functions and perform other duties related to planning and scheduling when required by project teams.
