About The Position

Under the general direction of the Manager of Beneficial Electrification, the Project Manager - Electrification and Energy Innovation Programs will lead the development and implementation of innovative programs and projects that can transform the future of energy in our community. In this role, you will identify emerging technologies, evaluate market opportunities, develop strategic partnerships, and launch programs that expand transportation electrification, residential and commercial energy storage, Virtual Power Plants (VPPs), and other energy transformation technologies. Many of these projects will have no established roadmap, requiring creativity, strategic thinking, and the ability to navigate ambiguity while driving measurable results. Success in this role requires strong collaboration across internal departments, customers, technology providers, utilities, government agencies, and regulators. You will help inform strategic decision-making, lead cross-functional teams, manage multiple high-impact projects, and help shape programs that improve customer experience while supporting a more resilient and sustainable electric grid. Responsibilities may include researching emerging technologies, evaluating business cases, developing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), negotiating contracts, preparing regulatory filings, overseeing pilot projects, and leading full-scale project implementations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Engineering, Marketing, Environmental Sciences, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Political Science and Education, Communications, other related degree or equivalent experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of related training and experience in lieu of education.
  • 0 - 5 years of relevant experience; level will be determined based on total years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex programs and projects from concept through implementation, including project planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, stakeholder engagement, change management, and successful project execution.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strategic partnerships with local businesses, technology providers, government agencies, industry organizations, community partners, vendors, customers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to present strategic information to executive leadership, regulators, customers, and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, coordinate cross-functional teams, establish project priorities, and effectively communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting market research, business case development, cost-benefit analyses, and strategic planning to identify opportunities that improve customer value and support organizational objectives.
  • Ability to develop, implement, manage, and evaluate pilot programs and full-scale customer programs involving transportation electrification, energy storage, demand response, distributed energy resources, and other emerging technologies.
  • Experience preparing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), evaluating proposals, negotiating contracts, managing vendors, and overseeing project implementation and performance.
  • Ability to support regulatory filings, reports, business cases, and strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to identify, pursue, and support grant funding opportunities with local partners.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, financial analysis, cost tracking, and performance metrics used to evaluate project success and return on investment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence without direct authority, build consensus, and successfully manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex technical and business issues, analyze data, and develop practical, customer-focused solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, development and implementation of innovative programs and projects that advance transportation electrification, distributed energy resources (DERs), residential and commercial energy storage, Virtual Power Plants (VPPs), and other customer-focused grid modernization initiatives.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies, industry trends, and innovative utility solutions that support organizational goals and enhance customer value.
  • Develop business cases, project plans, budgets, schedules, performance metrics, and implementation strategies to support program approvals and successful project execution.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate with internal departments to successfully implement approved programs and integrate new initiatives into utility operations.
  • Prepare and issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs), evaluate proposals, recommend vendor selection, negotiate contracts, and oversee vendor performance throughout project implementation.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with local governments, universities, community organizations, technology providers, industry associations, and other public and private stakeholders to advance strategic initiatives.
  • Plan and deliver presentations, facilitate stakeholder engagement meetings, participate in industry conferences, and support customer education and outreach initiatives to promote company programs and strengthen community partnerships.
  • Support the preparation of regulatory filings, business cases, grant applications, reports, presentations, and other materials related to electrification, distributed energy resources, energy storage, and emerging technologies.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, budget, risks, and performance metrics to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and operate a motor vehicle in accordance with the Company's Driving Program Policy.
  • Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, safety requirements, environmental regulations, Code of Ethics, and all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
