Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Lead and coordinate projects from kickoff to completion Develop scopes, schedules, budgets, and cost estimates Review plans, proposals, and technical documents Manage consultants, contractors, and project teams Prepare RFPs, RFQs, reports, and recommendations Analyze data, solve issues, and keep projects on track Collaborate with departments, agencies, and stakeholders Monitor timelines, costs, and overall project performance Communicate project updates clearly to staff and the community Performs other related duties as assigned Duties and schedules may vary by assignment and/or department, please inquire about specific duties and/or schedules if called upon for an interview. Explore the job specification for additional position details. The current vacancies exist in the Capital Projects and Transportation Departments. However, this classification also exists in the departments of Public Works, Planning & Development, Public Utilities, and Airports. Immediate and future vacancies will be filled from this eligible list for a period of three (3) months from the date the eligible list is created, with the option of extending that period at the City’s discretion. Should the competitive process be suspended for this recruitment, the eligibility list may be limited to three (3) months.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in finance, real estate, business administration, public administration, engineering, urban planning, transportation planning, construction management, economics, architecture, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of project management experience in one or more of the following areas: real estate development, fixed asset capital financing, governmental planning, transportation planning, accessibility planning, redevelopment, economic development, construction management, inspection, permits/plan check, engineering, public utilities projects administration or a related field.
  • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License may be required at time of appointment.
  • Within five (5) years of appointment, incumbents must obtain a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification through the Project Management Institute and shall maintain this certification throughout employment in the classification.
  • Failure to obtain the required certification within the specified time period and maintain for the entire term of employment in this classification shall be cause for termination.
  • Recruitment may be limited to a specific area of expertise as required by operational needs.
  • The selected eligible candidates certified will be required to successfully pass a Department interview and a Department of Justice fingerprint prior to employment with the City of Fresno, and sign a confidentiality agreement.
  • If hired with the Airport you must clear Airports TSA fingerprinting and extensive investigative background.
