About The Position

The Township of St. Clair is seeking a motivated individual for a temporary, up to six (6) months, Project Manager position within the Engineering Department. Working under the direction of the Coordinator of Engineering, this position is responsible for the implementation of capital projects and maintenance related projects on behalf of the Township. The projects will focus on wastewater treatment, linear and vertical infrastructure for water and wastewater systems, stormwater infrastructure, roads, active transportation, and shoreline protection. The position requires you to liaise within the department and throughout the organization, as well as with external consultants and contractors to effectively coordinate and deliver complex projects within established schedule, budget and scope. The position supports long-term planning and asset management of the Township’s critical infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related program.
  • Minimum of three to five (3 - 5) years progressively responsible experience related to municipal engineering and project management.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards, documentation and legislation (Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Environmental Protection Act, American Water Works Association Standards, Construction Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and influence at a variety of levels to achieve project success.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database software.
  • Demonstrated competencies in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing appropriate for City, Council, citizens, and peers while maintaining a professional attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of an engineering designation (P.Eng or CET) is considered an asset.
  • Related experience to include familiarity with relevant standards, documentation and legislation (Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Environmental Protection Act, American Water Works Association Standards, Construction Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.).
  • Proven experience managing wastewater treatment plant expansions with a solid understanding of Ontario’s water and wastewater regulations and environmental compliance is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Benefits

  • Compensation will be in accordance with OPSEU Local 123 Collective Agreement.
  • Rate of pay will range from $39.64 - $47.93 per hour.
  • Successful candidate will assume a 35-hour work week.
