About The Position

The Project Manager position at the City of Tucson’s Water Department manages the conception, implementation, and analyses of large and small enterprise software application projects using recognized project management methodologies. This position coordinates with experts in different fields, preparing forecasts for funding and scheduling, and assisting in the development and implementation of project budgets, expenditures, and timelines. Work is performed under the supervision of the Management Coordinator. This position does not supervise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Three (3) years of directly related experience
  • A valid and unrestricted driver’s license with two (2) years of licensed driving is required

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Experience in customer service functions
  • Experience in software application configuration, administration, and implementation
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in management information systems, computer science, data management, computer engineering, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Manages and directs projects by assigning work, forecasting timelines and project parameters, reviewing and approving plans and documents.
  • Devises solutions to problems, deploys resources, ensuring projects are completed effectively and efficiently within budget timeframes.
  • Studies and approves agreements, disburses payments, conducts and attends meetings with associated parties.
  • Prepares forecasts of needed funds, assists in the development and implementation of budgets, monitors project budgets, authorizes expenditures and budget allocations, reviews budget documents and prepares reports and communications.
  • Collaborates with intra- and inter-departmental personnel by developing project goals and objectives.
  • Evaluates project success, regulatory compliance, creates and delivers presentations.
  • Performs administrative duties by preparing and reviewing reports and correspondence.
  • Performs safety audits and inspections, reviews policies and procedures, provides advice.
  • Researches and analyzes information such as cost-benefit studies, develops and maintains databases.
  • Responds to and forwards inquiries.
  • Provides management and oversight of various contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, quality, and quantity of vendor work, and integration with internal staff efforts.
  • Develops change management training and communication plans.
  • Develops standard operating procedures to support project implementation.
  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
