Project Managers for the Wexner Medical Center in Facilities Design and Construction are responsible for capital building projects, renovations, mechanical/electrical, and other projects as assigned. They facilitate and guide project development, managing, supervising, directing, and coordinating new construction and renovation projects through the entire project life cycle. This includes budget/estimating, scheduling, planning/design, bidding, construction, and closeout phases, utilizing project delivery methods such as Design/Bid/Build, Design-Build, and Construction Manager at Risk. The Project Manager ensures projects adhere to schedule, meet financial objectives, and align with university core goals while exercising independent judgment and providing excellent customer service. They coordinate pricing and proposals with contractors, monitor construction timelines, review and approve contractor billing, and coordinate necessary service interruptions with FOD Operations, hospital utilities, and energy partners. Collaboration with epidemiology, hospital safety, compliance, and operations is essential. The role involves reviewing and approving shop drawings, change directives, requests for information, and change orders. Project transition to university operations and departments at occupancy, and project closeout, including processing final invoices and contractual commitments, are key responsibilities. The Project Manager acts as the University representative with architects, engineers, construction managers, and contractors to ensure projects are completed within schedule, budget, and customer expectations. They prepare cost estimates, schedules, and scopes of work, review and negotiate consultant fee proposals, and coordinate consultant activities. Review of design documents and project manuals for compliance with building codes, university design standards, and project objectives is required. The role also involves preparing and providing project status reports and schedules to various leadership levels, making recommendations on cost analysis and alternatives, and partnering with other university areas for collaboration. The Project Manager typically manages mid-range projects (approximate budgets +/- $20 million) and adheres to Ohio Revised Code 153, Ohio Administrative Code 153, Building Design Standards, and university policies. Maintaining project documentation in electronic systems is also required. Participation in continuing education and training is expected. Hours and days may vary, and 24-hour emergency call may be required. Potential travel to sites outside the Columbus Campus may be necessary.
