About The Position

Clark Construction Company is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and oversee construction projects throughout Detroit and Southeast Michigan. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the continued growth and revitalization of one of the nation's most historic and dynamic cities. As Clark expands its Southeast Michigan presence with a new Detroit-area office, we are looking for a leader who is passionate about building strong client relationships, delivering exceptional projects, and contributing to the development of the region. From new construction to complex renovations, including historically significant structures, you will help shape projects that leave a lasting impact on Detroit's communities and skyline. The ideal candidate is a proven construction professional who can successfully manage multiple projects, lead high-performing teams, and drive results from preconstruction through project closeout. Experience with historic renovation, restoration, and adaptive reuse projects is highly preferred. Based in Detroit, Michigan, serving clients across Southeast Michigan. Ideal candidates may reside in Detroit, Dearborn, Sterling Heights, Ferndale, Royal Oak, Troy, or surrounding communities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of project management experience in commercial construction.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of construction operations, project delivery methods, budgeting, scheduling, and contract administration.
  • Experience with commercial, institutional, industrial, mixed-use, or municipal construction projects.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with historic renovation, restoration, adaptive reuse, or preservation projects is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead construction projects from planning through completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project scopes, schedules, work breakdown structures, and execution plans.
  • Proactively manage project risks, budgets, schedules, and scope changes to maintain project success.
  • Partner with superintendents and operational leadership to effectively allocate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor resources.
  • Continuously evaluate project priorities and adjust resources to meet critical milestones and client expectations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and trade partners.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project communication, ensuring transparency and alignment among all stakeholders.
  • Support Clark's growing presence in Detroit by fostering long-term client partnerships and pursuing repeat business opportunities.
  • Clearly define project roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
  • Collaborate with project teams and functional departments to ensure alignment and accountability across all phases of construction.
  • Mentor and support project engineers and other team members to promote professional growth and project success.
  • Track project performance metrics and identify potential issues early.
  • Implement corrective actions to keep projects aligned with budget, schedule, safety, and quality objectives.
  • Drive effective issue resolution and remove obstacles that impact project performance.
  • Collaborate with Clark's Business Development team to identify and pursue new opportunities throughout Southeast Michigan.
  • Represent Clark in the local construction community and support initiatives that strengthen our presence in the Detroit market.
