About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a part-time Project Manager for our Columbia, MD office. Be involved in projects with our Program Management Team in Baltimore and Charles County and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. The ideal candidate will be an engineer with at least 7-10 years of experience in project management, planning, design, and construction management for roadway projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or transportation engineering or relevant field
  • 7-10 years roadway design and construction management experience
  • Strong oral and written skills
  • Familiarity with the practices and principles of Design and Construction
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Experience with local and state highway agencies

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in performing and reviewing various traffic engineering analysis including traffic impact studies, traffic signal warrant studies, and reviewing traffic engineering design plans.
  • Proficient knowledge of Roundabout design, standard, guidelines, and latest research.
  • Proficient knowledge of street and sidewalk engineering, design, and construction principles and practices.
  • Expert knowledge on the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Highway Safety Manual, and/or other traffic engineering related safety policy, standards, or guidelines
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate both countywide programs and specific projects.
  • Data and information systems management experience
  • Experience in a web-based document management system such as e-Builder, Unifier and CM-14
  • Ability to support scheduling for a program of multiple projects, including monitoring costs.
  • EIT with desire to achieve PE.
  • Ability to lead and conduct large meetings and work in a client setting

Responsibilities

  • Manage design consultants and construction contractor’s projects for Roadway projects.
  • Coordinate Project designers and construction managers activities.
  • Manage capital improvement projects including project schedule, budget, and deliverables.
  • Permit coordination.
  • Provide technical presentations to project teams and other stakeholders.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
