About The Position

AECOM is seeking a results-driven Senior Design-Build Project Manager to join our Buildings + Places team. In this role, you will lead the delivery of complex, high-profile projects using Design-Build and alternative delivery models, including Progressive or Modified Design-Build, Alliance, and Integrated Project Delivery. You will be embedded within high-performing, multidisciplinary teams acting as the single point of accountability for project delivery, integrating design and construction to achieve exceptional outcomes. This is a newly created position. You will play a critical leadership role, shaping project execution, driving commercial value engineering strategies, building lasting GC and client relationships while delivering impactful infrastructure and building projects across Canada. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Design-Build leader looking to take ownership of major projects and contribute to the continued growth of AECOM’s presence in the delivery of alternative delivery projects.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field + 8 (eight) years of experience managing multiple projects of various types and complexities for transportation, defence, institutional, and light industrial clients
Demonstrated experience delivering Design-Build or alternative delivery projects
Ability to obtain and maintain Government of Canada security clearances
Must hold or be eligible to obtain: Reliability Status (minimum), Secret Clearance (required for many federal projects)
Ability to comply with project-specific security protocols, including controlled site access and information handling requirements

Nice To Haves

Professional designation (P.Eng. or Architect)
15+ years of progressive project management experience delivering building or infrastructure projects
PMP certification; DBIA certification or equivalent is an asset
Strong commercial acumen with experience managing project financials, contracts, and change management
Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams in complex project environments
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel for financial tracking and reporting)
Experience with project scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent)
Familiarity with project delivery and document control platforms (e.g., SharePoint, BIM 360, Aconex)
Working knowledge of project controls systems, reporting tools, and data-driven performance tracking

Responsibilities

Lead Design-Build and alternative delivery projects from early strategy through construction and close-out
Act as the single point of accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety outcomes
Drive project execution strategies that integrate design, construction, and stakeholder requirements
Partner with Design Build contractors, joint venture partners, consultants, and internal teams to ensure constructability and alignment
Lead multidisciplinary teams across architecture, engineering, and project controls
Ensure seamless integration between design development and construction execution
Manage project financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, fee management, and margin optimization
Oversee change management, contract administration, and commercial risk management
Monitor progress against key milestones and implement corrective actions as required
Collaborate with stakeholders, GC estimators and design managers to deliver on commercial value engineering options
Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks (technical, commercial, and delivery)
Ensure compliance with AECOM’s quality management systems and safe work practices
Lead project reviews and ensure audit-defensible documentation
Serve as the primary client interface, building trusted relationships and ensuring delivery excellence
Lead coordination with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), permitting bodies, and regulatory stakeholders
Facilitate effective communication across all project stakeholders
Support capture strategies, proposals, and client engagement activities
Contribute to strengthening AECOM’s Design-Build presence across Canada
Identify opportunities for repeat work and client expansion
