About The Position

Valkyrie Enterprises has a need for a Project Manager who will be a key person to perform management and technical duties to monitor and control the progress of multi-discipline engineering tasks. This role is located in Norfolk, VA. The Project Manager will serve as the direct liaison between the Program Manager and Site Supervisor, the government customer (OSIC), host shipyard facility, ships force, subcontractors/vendors, and/or local RMC. They will be responsible for the planning, budgeting, executing, monitoring, controlling, and documenting all aspects of assigned projects. This role works closely with the Program Manager to ensure assigned projects are within scope, direction, and on schedule. The Project Manager is responsible for the preplanning work on upcoming AIT projects, including creating QA Workbooks, estimating work, and creating project, monthly, weekly, and daily work plans. They will also be responsible for the quality of all personnel on assigned projects, including subcontractors and vendors, and tracking their hours. Additionally, this role involves researching, BOM creation, purchasing, tracking, and kitting of project material, and coordinating material movement. The Project Manager will produce and maintain integrated schedules, report progress weekly, and establish manning requirements. They will also be responsible for RMMCO check-in and check-out and attend project meetings as required. A significant part of this role involves developing and implementing corrosion control programs and strategies, conducting risk assessments, overseeing inspections, coordinating with engineering and maintenance teams, analyzing corrosion data, and ensuring compliance with standards and regulations. The role also includes training staff on corrosion control best practices and preparing reports. Inspecting surfaces, cleaning them, and possessing organizational skills and computer literacy are also key aspects. Prior project management experience leading teams of 10 or more people and a history of assignment on multiple ship classes are required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 4 years of program or project management experience.
  • Equivalent experience to bachelor’s degree = additional 4 years experience.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles.
  • Ability to detect and resolve conflicts within the scope of the assigned projects.
  • Ability to detect and resolve risks to maintain the assigned projects within budgets and schedules.
  • Familiar with financial reporting and delivery of financial status of projects.
  • Documented and demonstrated technical background and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of drawings, shipyard operations, Navy operations, NAVSEA instructions, WAF and Tagout requirements, and general AIT contractor knowledge.
  • General working knowledge of computers/technology.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Ability to build a QA Workbook/work package.
  • Ability to provide technical, administrative, and operational leadership to assigned task(s) including subcontractor/vendor management at the site.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Prior project management skills leading teams of 10 or more people.
  • History of assignment on multiple ship classes.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Navy E-7-E9 preferred.
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience using Microsoft Project to write proposals.
  • Previous experience in reading/developing drawings for the navy and MSC ships.
  • Passport holder preferred.
  • Knowledge with in corrosion control, paintings and top coating.

Responsibilities

  • Track subcontractor and vendor hours.
  • Research, create BOM, purchase, track, and kit project material; coordinate the movement of material to and from assigned projects.
  • Produce and maintain integrated schedules for the duration of and completion of assigned projects.
  • Report progress of assigned projects at a minimum of weekly.
  • Establish manning requirements for assigned projects.
  • Responsible for RMMCO check-in and check-out for assigned projects.
  • Attend meetings for assigned projects as required.
  • Develop and implement corrosion control programs and strategies.
  • Conduct corrosion risk assessments and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Oversee the inspection and monitoring of corrosion control systems.
  • Coordinate with engineering and maintenance teams to ensure proper installation and maintenance of corrosion control measures.
  • Review and analyze corrosion data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to corrosion control.
  • Train and mentor staff on corrosion control best practices.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on corrosion control activities and results.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and regulations related to corrosion control.
  • Inspect surfaces to be prepared and identify any imperfections or damage.
  • Clean surfaces using appropriate tools and material.
