Onsite Project Manager – Utility-Scale Solar
About The Position
The Onsite Project Manager oversees execution of utility-scale solar construction projects. The role manages daily site activities, coordinates subcontractors and field teams, monitors schedules and budgets, and ensures projects are completed safely, on time, and within established quality standards. The position is full-time onsite and may require travel or relocation to the assigned project location. The Project Manager coordinates construction stakeholders and teams, tracks progress and risks, leads onsite progress meetings, reviews project and field documentation, resolves construction issues, and maintains records through project completion and turnover. The role works with engineering, procurement, project controls, and commissioning teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of project management experience in utility-scale solar, renewable energy, or large-scale construction.
- Demonstrated experience managing onsite construction activities for large utility-scale solar projects.
- Strong understanding of construction schedules, budgets, subcontractor management, and project controls.
- Knowledge of construction safety standards, quality assurance, and field operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction scheduling or project management software.
- Ability to work full-time onsite and travel or relocate to the assigned project location as required.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience is considered.
- Experience with utility-scale solar EPC projects from mobilization through commissioning and turnover.
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors and large field teams.
- Familiarity with electrical infrastructure, civil construction, site grading, and solar installation.
- Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar scheduling tools.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily onsite construction activities for utility-scale solar projects.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, and project stakeholders.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, labor productivity, and material deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with safety requirements, quality standards, project specifications, and applicable regulations.
- Track project progress, identify potential risks, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead onsite progress meetings and communicate project status, issues, and milestones to leadership.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, change orders, and field documentation.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, project controls, and commissioning teams.
- Resolve construction issues and escalate critical risks affecting schedule, cost, or quality.
- Maintain accurate project records, daily reports, and documentation through project completion and turnover.
