We have an opportunity for a Project Manager in San Diego County, CA. The Project Manager will report to the Area Manager and will supervise project staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field/equivalent experience or Engineering Degree.
  • Heavy Civil Construction background with 8+ years
  • Experience with all aspects of construction including excavation, underground utilities, forming and placing concrete, finishing and curing concrete, grading and paving.
  • Thorough and experienced understanding of underground self-perform construction logistics and requirements for mechanical, civil, architectural and other applicable scopes of work.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong work ethic – willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
  • Ability to function as a team builder/player.
  • The ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office Suite
  • Customer service/client driven

Nice To Haves

  • $20-$30 million + Heavy/Civil Construction project as Project Manager preferred
  • Must be safety oriented – 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA certificates are preferred but not required.
  • Additional experience in dewatering, change order strategy, procurement and subcontractor negotiations/risk preferred.
  • Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) training a plus, however QSP or QSD certifications are not required.
  • Estimating HCSS and CAD knowledge a plus
  • P6 Primavera scheduling proficient a plus

Responsibilities

  • Managing and directing large complex water storage and water transmission construction projects by providing the communication, coordination and follow-up necessary to meet project goals and objectives.
  • Maintaining ongoing training and mentoring of project teams.
  • Providing ongoing project information and project reviews as required by management.
  • Coordinating training and compliance measures to ensure project procedures are followed.
  • Ensuring scope of work, schedule and budget are clearly defined and understood by senior management and all project participants, including the client.
  • Determining controls and maintaining overall project and discipline schedules and budgets.
  • Tracking schedule and budget progress with project milestones and taking all action necessary to keep the project on track.
  • Providing senior experience and knowledge in underground concrete water storage tank and large diameter pipeline excavation and grading self-perform construction to the team and field operations.
  • Developing cost savings solutions for concrete construction, large pipeline, excavation and grading, and other trade issues and scopes of work.
  • Identifying and securing necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget and/or schedule.
  • Utilizing existing relationships with vendors and suppliers in the water storage and water transmission business to benefit the company and project.
  • Maintaining ongoing communication with the client at their level and working with project teams to make adjustments as necessary to comply with clients’ needs within contractual obligations, or to adjust project deliverables to meet the client and stakeholders needs.
