Project Manager (Contract)

HoxtonSan Francisco, CA
Onsite

About The Position

As a Project Manager working with Hoxton on a contract basis, you'll be our presence on the ground, across the delivery of a new office for one of our clients. There's potential to support additional engagements across the Americas where the opportunity arises. We're supporting a global technology consultancy on the delivery of a new SF office. The project involves an approximately 8,000 sq ft landlord-delivered pre-built space. The engagement runs from immediate start for approximately 6 weeks with programme subject to change. You'll work directly with the Hoxton lead on the engagement, acting as our local boots on the ground. This isn’t a build project. It’s practical move-in and activation support: managing the LV contractor, liaising with building management, coordinating small contractors, tracking issues, keeping actions moving, and making sure the final details don’t drift. The Hoxton lead owns the client relationship, and programme oversight. You'll own everything that needs to happen on the ground. We deliver projects across the Americas. While SF is the immediate focus of this engagement, we may look to extend the contract to support other projects in the region where there's a fit. This is a part-time contract role, working alongside our team for the duration of the engagement.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience delivering commercial workplace and office fit-out projects in New York City, with a working knowledge of how the local market operates.
  • Experience working alongside landlord-delivered programmes and a clear understanding of where the typical points of friction sit between landlord, tenant and consultant teams.
  • Genuine ownership experience of office relocations and decommissioning, rather than adjacent or supporting involvement.
  • A background in workplace project management, tenant representation, corporate interiors, owner's representation or commercial office delivery consultancies.
  • A career background that spans more than one of workplace project management, tenant representation, corporate interiors, owner's representation or delivery consultancies.
  • Experience operating as a trusted local representative for a remote project team, with the discipline to keep that team informed without being chased.
  • The presence and credibility to represent us as the only Hoxton person in the room, across landlord, vendor and client meetings.
  • Strong independent judgement, with the confidence to make local decisions and the discipline to escalate the right things at the right time.
  • A plain, direct communication style. No jargon, no drama, no surprises.
  • Comfortable operating across both strategic coordination and practical on-the-ground delivery, including time spent on site.
  • A collaborative working style that fits naturally into a small team working closely together.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience delivering workplace projects in other US or Americas markets beyond New York.
  • Experience supporting global clients running US delivery alongside other regions.
  • Familiarity with the technology sector and the ways those workplaces tend to operate.
  • Existing relationships with New York landlords, general contractors, FF&E suppliers and move vendors.
  • Open to supporting us on other engagements across the Americas where the opportunity arises.

Responsibilities

  • Act as our on-site representative through client occupation, giving the Hoxton lead clear visibility of progress, risks and quality on the ground.
  • Plan and deliver the client's team into the new workspace, including any move planning, vendor selection and management, sequencing, internal communications support, day-of execution and first-week settling.
  • Coordinate locally across landlord, building management, vendors and the client's team, representing us in all relevant forums.
  • Monitor delivery against agreed intent and flag inconsistencies, quality concerns or programme impacts at the earliest opportunity.
  • Maintain site records, photographic logs and concise written updates on a cadence agreed with the Hoxton lead.
  • Attend key meetings, inspections and handover activities throughout the engagement.
  • Track issues and risks through to resolution and don't let them drift.
  • Flex commitment across the engagement as the project moves through phases, with heavier involvement expected around critical milestones including move week.
  • Where we extend the engagement to other projects in the Americas, support those projects as agreed.
  • Support other requirements as appropriate.

Benefits

  • Contract role structured as an independent contractor engagement (1099).
  • Projects located across the Americas.
  • The role may involve travel depending on project requirements.
  • Contract duration and rate will be discussed during the recruitment process.
