The New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT), Division of Bridges, is responsible for the full life cycle management of over 800 bridges and tunnels, and over 600 retaining walls. The Bureau of Capital Design and Construction specifically handles major projects on all NYC-owned bridges and tunnels, managing design and construction activities through private engineering and construction firms. This role involves managing bridge capital design projects within the Roadway Bridges group, overseeing all phases from design to construction support, and ensuring the safety and mobility of bridge users. The selected candidate will act as a Project Manager, leading engineering professionals and clerical staff, analyzing complex projects, managing risks, and reviewing consultant submissions. This includes plans, specifications, cost estimates, environmental documents, invoices, schedules, and change orders, often requiring coordination with various internal and external agencies. The role also involves developing construction contract documents, assisting with procurement, and utilizing project management systems for tracking and financial processing.
