About The Position

The Structural Steel Project Manager leads structural steel and precast projects from initial planning through field installation, turnover, and final delivery. The role coordinates engineering, detailing, fabrication, transportation, and erection teams to maintain schedules, control costs, and meet safety and quality requirements. The position oversees project planning and financial controls, manages project documentation and procurement, coordinates fabrication and field logistics, resolves project issues, and communicates status and risks to stakeholders. The role also oversees subcontractor and supplier performance, inspections, punch-list work, warranty commitments, handover, and closeout. • Experience managing budgets, cost forecasts, billing, change orders, purchasing, subcontractors, and project financial controls.
  • Understanding of the full steel project lifecycle, from engineering and detailing through fabrication, delivery, and erection.
  • Proven ability to coordinate general contractors, structural engineers, fabricators, erectors, and field teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management tools such as Procore or Bluebeam.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of risks involving fabrication lead times, material availability, delivery restrictions, crane access, and erection schedules.
  • Must reside within commuting distance of Milwaukee or Southeastern Wisconsin, or be able to commute reliably.
  • General commercial construction experience without direct structural steel project management experience does not qualify.
