About The Position

This Project Manager role is tasked with coordinating a large-scale global IT support transformation across thousands of manufacturing plants. The ideal candidate must balance strategic problem-solving with tactical execution to manage approximately 25 workstreams. This is a high-visibility role reporting to the project lead, with updates that reach the CIO. The position acts as the "right hand" to the project lead, focusing on day-to-day coordination, identifying risks, and managing dependencies across thousands of global plants. The focus is on general IT service management (ITSM) — including hardware, application access, and onboarding — rather than ERP-specific technical expertise. This role will oversee the global transition of the company's IT managed services provider from one external vendor to another, affecting all regions and requiring significant coordination and project management. This is strictly a project oversight and management role; the candidate will not perform IT execution, programming, system configuration, or sprint management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four years of relevant project management experience; typically five or more years of relevant experience.
  • Large-scale transformational experience within a global organization.
  • Strong background in manufacturing/plant IT support environments.
  • Direct experience with IT managed services implementation or provider transition.
  • Oversight of large, global IT implementations involving multiple regions and vendors.
  • Coordination of approximately 15 simultaneous workstreams, including dependencies, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Strong vendor management experience, including maintaining schedules, driving accountability, and escalating issues.
  • Ability to work within one hour of the Minneapolis (CST) time zone; ideally local to Minnesota or within the Central (CST) or Eastern (EST) time zones.
  • Ability to problem-solve and think strategically rather than just acting as a "taskmaster."
  • Willingness to handle hands-on tasks such as SharePoint and access management for onboarding vendors.
  • Ability to manage a matrixed environment involving verticals (network, hosting, database) and horizontals (governance, identity access management).
  • Disciplined use of project or performance management tools and proper documentation practices.
  • Detailed project planning and consistent reporting on cost, timing, staffing, risks, and overall status.
  • Ability to remove obstacles, mitigate implementation risks, and bring the appropriate stakeholders together for major decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience at the client organization (highly prioritized for culture fit and understanding of the organization's scale).
  • Previous experience implementing or transitioning IT managed services within a plant support environment.
  • Based in Wayzata, Minnesota (preferred but not required).
  • ITIL certification (not required but considered a beneficial asset).

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project plans and manage project scope, schedules, costs, staffing, resource requirements, and overall status reporting.
  • Organize project teams, assign responsibilities, and coordinate activities across multiple workstreams.
  • Lead large, global implementations and ensure all workstreams remain aligned with project timelines and deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate project data in project and performance management tools, ensuring required documentation is collected and archived for future use.
  • Provide stakeholders with timely updates and detailed information regarding project progress, risks, issues, and decisions.
  • Identify and resolve obstacles that may affect the project's ability to remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Manage vendor communications and partnerships to ensure adherence to agreed-upon timelines, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate implementation risks throughout the project lifecycle.
