About The Position

Leads the planning, coordination, execution, and oversight of vegetation management operations to support system reliability, safety, regulatory compliance, and capital program delivery. Responsibilities may span outage support, reactive and emergency response, and certification/quality assurance, ensuring alignment with the Vegetation Clearing Plan, capital investment goals, and operational objectives while managing contractors, guiding personnel, and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Business, Engineering, Project Management, or related field from an accredited university.
• 5 years of experience in project management or related experience preferably in a large electrical utility environment, with knowledge of vegetation management processes, with at least 3 years' in a Project Associate role, similar role or proven experience working in project management.
• Experience developing project plans, timelines, and deliverables using project management tools.
• Strong communication skills, with proficiency in presenting, facilitating meetings, and collaborating effectively across all organizational levels and stakeholder groups.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills in both English and Spanish.
• Knowledge of OH&S safety regulations and relevant municipal, state, and federal legislation.
• Excellent organizational, time‑management, planning, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
• Adaptable to change in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proven capability in project execution and contractor management, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely delivery.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills with high attention to accuracy and detail.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision while maintaining strong performance and accountability.
• Proficient in the use, interpretation, and application of Survey123 or similar application.
• Proficient in map reading, project management tools (MS Project and Primavera P6), and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Valid Driver's License

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in a relevant field may substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 3 years of experience performing related functions and at least 2 years of experience working as Project Manager or 5 years as a Project Coordinator.
• Bachelor's degree accompanied by a Professional Project Management (PMP)Certification, Certified Associate in Project Management (CAMP) may substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 3 years of experience performing related functions and at least 2 years of experience working as Project Manager or 5 years as a Project Coordinator.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) would be considered an asset.
• ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) Certified Arborist Designation would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Manages vegetation‑clearing projects throughout their full lifecycle, including planning, scoping, scheduling, coordination, and oversight of capital and routine activities.
• Oversees vegetation clearing activities required for scheduled outages by defining scope, initiating work, coordinating logistics, and facilitating communication between vegetation and line crews.
• Receives, triages, and manages urgent vegetation‑related issues such as hazard trees, storm damage, reliability risks, and escalations.
• Supervises Utility Arborists and contractor crews, conducts field inspections and safety audits, manages scope and productivity adjustments, and resolves access or service conflicts with landowners, municipalities, and agencies.
• Supports certification activities by validating completed vegetation work, reviewing results for quality and compliance, conducting field inspections to reduce non‑conformances, and assisting in invoicing through scope confirmation and discrepancy resolution.
• Coordinates resource allocation across capital workstreams, balancing contractor availability with system priorities and operational constraints.
• Applies project management methodologies for scope, schedule, cost, risk, and change control to ensure successful delivery of vegetation capital programs.
• Monitor key project milestones, progress indicators, productivity metrics, and work completion rates to ensure alignment with capital forecasts.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Operations, Engineering, Planning, and Finance to support capital planning cycles and annual investment strategies.
• Prepares progress, performance, risk, and budget-adherence reports and dashboards for leadership review.
• Ensure adherence to established vegetation management standards, utility operations procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts by evaluating program performance, conducting lessons‑learned reviews, and implementing enhancements that strengthen documentation accuracy, contractor performance, and overall program efficiency and value.
• Leads, models and ensures consistent application of policies and regulatory standards across teams to support ethical operations and mitigate compliance risks.
• Leads and validates the planning and execution of restoration and emergency preparedness activities to strengthen operational resilience and response capacity.
• Assumes and oversees expanded duties aligned with organizational priorities and professional scope to drive departmental effectiveness and strategic alignment.
