About The Position

Terracon Geotechnique Ltd. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to provide leadership on roadway, bridge, highway, municipal infrastructure, and transportation construction projects across Alberta. This role is responsible for the strategic growth and operational success of Terracon’s Transportation projects throughout Alberta, overseeing project delivery, client relationships, technical quality, staff development, and business development while serving as a senior technical leader. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors (ATEC) specifications, municipal construction standards, asphalt materials testing, and quality assurance/quality control programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Designation with ASET or APEGA
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in transportation infrastructure, materials engineering, construction quality assurance, or transportation project management.
  • Demonstrated expertise interpreting and applying ATEC specifications and municipal transportation standards.
  • Extensive experience managing asphalt quality assurance programs, asphalt testing laboratories, and transportation materials testing services.
  • Strong understanding of roadway construction, bridge construction, pavement rehabilitation, aggregate testing, and transportation infrastructure delivery.
  • Experience leading certified materials testing laboratories and technical teams.
  • Established relationships with Alberta transportation agencies, municipalities, engineering consultants, and heavy civil contractors.
  • Proven success developing client relationships, winning work, and successfully delivering transportation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage transportation projects from proposal through completion.
  • Ensure project scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and client expectations are achieved.
  • Provide oversight for project financial performance, resource allocation, risk management, and contract administration.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams delivering highway, bridge, municipal roadway, airport, and transportation infrastructure projects throughout Alberta.
  • Provide senior technical guidance on ATEC specifications, municipal roadway and bridge specifications, GBC construction requirements, Asphalt paving quality programs, Transportation materials engineering, and Construction quality assurance and quality control.
  • Review technical deliverables, laboratory reports, field testing programs, and construction monitoring activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable project specifications, provincial requirements, municipal standards, and industry best practices.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for asphalt laboratory operations and testing programs.
  • Support continuous improvement of laboratory procedures, testing methodologies, quality systems, and reporting practices.
  • Ensure consistency in the application of ATEC, municipal, and project-specific specifications.
  • Guide laboratory and field teams on asphalt mix verification, density testing, core sampling, acceptance testing, and quality management practices.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with provincial agencies, municipalities, engineering consultants, contractors, developers, and industry partners.
  • Lead proposal preparation, fee development, contract negotiations, and client presentations.
  • Identify and pursue new transportation infrastructure opportunities throughout Alberta.
  • Collaborate with regional leaders and technical specialists to strengthen Terracon’s presence in provincial and municipal transportation markets.
