Project Manager - Steel Design & Production
About The Position
NexGen Steel is experiencing rapid growth, and we are expanding our Project Management team to support an increasing volume of design-to-production projects. This role is critical to ensuring each project flows smoothly from initial design deposit through engineering, production, and final delivery to the client. Our Project Managers serve as the central hub of communication, coordination, and accountability across clients, design teams, and internal operations. Each Project Manager is responsible for managing several projects at a time, ensuring quality, timeliness, and client satisfaction at every stage.
Requirements
- 3+ years of Project Management experience (construction, manufacturing, or design-related industries preferred)
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints (architectural, structural, or framing plans)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Exceptional communication and follow-through
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience coordinating with external vendors or teams is highly preferred
Nice To Haves
- Background in construction, steel framing, engineering, or architectural design
- Familiarity with CAD drawings and design workflows
- Experience working with offshore or remote design teams
- Understanding of production or manufacturing processes
Responsibilities
- Oversee projects end-to-end, from initial design deposit through final delivery to the client
- Manage a pipeline of concurrent projects with strong attention to timelines and detail
- Receive and review client design plans for completeness and feasibility
- Submit plans to assigned engineering/design teams for steel conversion
- Act as the primary liaison between clients and external design teams
- Ensure all questions, revisions, and clarifications are communicated and resolved efficiently between the client and the engineering team
- Review and interpret architectural and structural blueprints
- Ensure project specifications are accurate, buildable, and aligned with company capabilities
- Provide feedback and clarification to both internal and external teams
- Track progress across all phases of the design process
- Ensure design milestones and deadlines are consistently met
- Identify and proactively resolve delays or bottlenecks
- Maintain highly organized project files, notes, and communication records
- Ensure clear documentation of all revisions, approvals, and decisions
- Partner with internal production and operations teams to ensure smooth project handoff after design approval
- Align project timelines with production capacity and delivery expectations
