About The Position

AECOM is seeking a creative, highly talented Project Manager/Senior Transportation Planner for immediate employment in the Orlando, FL office. In this role, you will be responsible for project and task management of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), local government and MPO/TPO projects. In addition, this position gives you the opportunity to engage in a variety of other planning work that may include long-range planning, transit planning, NEPA/SEPA, process improvements, grant writing/support, multimodal planning, sustainability, etc. As an integral member of our team, you will play a critical role in helping grow our market throughout the state and regionally. This position has the potential to serve as, or evolve into, a supervisory role. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban/City and Regional Planning, Urban Studies, Transportation, Engineering, or a related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Ten years of experience in transportation planning.

Nice To Haves

  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification
  • Experience and understanding of the state and regional transportation planning frameworks and collaboration processes in the State of Florida
  • Experience and knowledge of state and federal transportation funding and grant programs
  • Demonstration of effective leadership skills as a project manager, key task leader, or deputy project manager in a significant transportation planning projects or programs

Responsibilities

  • Be a visible leader and trusted advisor to clients by promoting AECOM’s values both internally and externally
  • Potentially supervising staff and organizing and monitoring work processes
  • Managing, developing, and collaborating with project teams in the preparation of transportation plans, which may include feasibility studies, corridor studies, long-range transportation plans, small area plans, FDOT Project Development and Environment (PD&E)/National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents/studies, transit, and other transportation plans
  • Understanding of and ability to interpret and synthesize state and federal transportation funds, grants, and prioritization
  • Planning and implementing grant programs, including grant application writing, grant submission, financial administration, and researching grant funding opportunities
  • Serve as lead to the project team may include assigning and monitoring work progress, mentoring colleagues, and quality assurance reviews of completed work by project team members
  • Gather data and conduct analysis of data for use in projects and for decision-making
  • Preparation and oversight of project and marketing deliverables
  • Conducting meetings and presentations with stakeholders
  • Work with the local area Business Line Leader and Senior Management on the development and execution of significant project pursuits and delivery
  • Establish relationships with both external and internal clients and customers, including industry associations and other potential consultant team members and contractors
  • Reviewing and compiling existing secondary sources of planning information; providing summaries and briefing documents for leadership
  • Conducting stakeholder outreach and public involvement efforts
  • Supporting the implementation of web-based planning processes.
  • Help project teams to integrate the work of planners and engineers into a coherent framework for decision-making.
