About The Position

The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) is seeking a project manager in the Public Policy Team. This role helps manage legislative and regulatory reform efforts at the federal and state levels especially in the following issue areas: sex trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation, pornography, online child protection, image-based sexual abuse, and cultural norms facilitating sexual exploitation. The candidate must be dedicated to working with federal and state public officials, advocates, survivors of sexual violence, and civil servants to achieve public policy change. The position requires professional skills (excellent writing and presentation ability), capability to do event planning (webinars; congressional briefings), and logistics management (meeting planning).

Requirements

  • BA degree required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excels in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent computer skills; highly proficient in Microsoft Suite and experienced with various online platforms.
  • Management skills: demonstrated experience managing people or projects

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience in public policy work is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to legislative efforts at the state and federal level under guidance of vice president & director of public policy.
  • Manage logistical and operational needs of public policy team.
  • Review state and federal bills to determine whether they align with NCOSE’s policy efforts and goals.
  • Coordinate with state and national organizations, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to advocate on behalf of legislative and regulatory priorities.
  • Arrange and lead meetings with legislators and staff, typically coordinating with state-level constituents and stakeholders.
  • Compose and distribute call to action campaigns, using nationwide database of contacts.
  • Draft letters of support for and opposition to federal and state-level bills; create sign-on forms; circulate to allies; and format signatures on final letter.
  • Draft testimony for legislative hearings.
  • Communicate with lobbyists/stakeholders coordinating toward goals
  • Attend and lead stakeholder meetings on behalf of NCOSE to promote NCOSE’s role as a leader in grassroots organization.
  • Research and build relationships with state-level organizations and leaders to strengthen advocacy coalition and advance NCOSE’s policy efforts.
  • Maintain public policy contact database.
  • Track public policy team legislative actions, such as emails, meetings, phone calls, letters, and campaigns.
  • Manage oversight of interns and intern projects.
  • Help manage weekly call with state and national organizations, leaders, and congressional staff to discuss ongoing policy efforts.
  • Maintain and submit legislative tracking reports to grantors.
  • Assist in maintaining relationships with donors and board members.
  • Track metrics and necessary information about public policy teamwork for the purposes of grant reporting and funding requests.
