About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a structural engineering background to lead key client projects for a small structural engineering firm based in Flagstaff, Arizona. The firm works on projects across the country, well beyond Arizona, and has a two-year growth plan to expand its team of professional engineers and E.I.T.s, with internal opportunities for advancement. In this role, you will take projects from initial concept through delivery and closeout, with the goal of delivering every project on time, within budget and within scope. You will prepare proposals for new work, maintain relationships with existing clients and contribute to the strategic direction of the firm as it grows. This position suits an organized, professional communicator with a can-do, problem-solving approach who wants to keep developing both technical and managerial expertise in preparation for further advancement. Flagstaff sits at 7,000 feet at the base of the San Francisco Peaks, with four distinct seasons, cooler summers and more than 50 miles of urban trails. It is about 2 hours from Phoenix, 3.5 hours from Las Vegas and within reach of Colorado ski areas and the Pacific coast. The city is home to Northern Arizona University and has an active arts scene and a lively downtown.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of technical experience
  • Structural specific expertise
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RISA and Revit
  • Proficiency in drafting
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to multitask
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and personnel simultaneously
  • Can-do, problem-solving attitude
  • Registered Civil Engineer (P.E.) or Structural Engineer (S.E.)
  • Current NCEES Record required

Responsibilities

  • Manage key client projects from initial concept to delivery and project closeout
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget
  • Manage internal resources and outside consultants
  • Assist in defining project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Perform value engineering to meet client needs
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation across projects
  • Develop detailed project plans to monitor and track progress
  • Attend project site visits, meetings and inspections with clients, contractors and team members
  • Manage changes to project scope, schedule and costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Report and escalate to senior team members as needed
  • Create proposals for new work
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients and consultants
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Assist with sales, scoping and job costing for future projects
  • Contribute to the firm’s vision and strategic plan
  • Continue progressing your technical and managerial expertise in preparation for position advancement
