The successful candidate will serve as a primary point of contact for assigned projects and will coordinate multidisciplinary engineering, project controls, procurement, construction, testing, operations, maintenance, quality, and client stakeholders. The role requires strong project leadership, disciplined execution, and the ability to deliver work safely, accurately, and in accordance with applicable station, client, regulatory, and quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, business, or a related technical field; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • 10 or more years of applicable experience in nuclear power, utility, engineering, construction, project management, or a related technical environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary project teams with increasing responsibility.
  • Experience managing project scope, cost, schedule, risk, resources, contracts, and client communication.
  • Experience supporting projects in an operating nuclear plant or other highly regulated industrial environment.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering documents, specifications, procedures, schedules, estimates, procurement documents, and project reports.
  • Ability to work effectively with client personnel, station organizations, engineering disciplines, contractors, vendors, and field teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to a nuclear facility, subject to client and site requirements.
  • Ability to work on site at Brunswick Nuclear Station and support planned outages, extended planning periods, and time-sensitive project milestones as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project-management credential.
  • Experience with nuclear plant modifications, engineering changes, work management, outage execution, construction, commissioning, testing, turnover, or closeout.
  • Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, cost-control systems, earned-value concepts, or similar project-controls tools.
  • Familiarity with nuclear quality-assurance programs, Appendix B, NQA-1, configuration management, design control, and utility-specific project procedures.
  • Experience coordinating vendor engineering, procurement, installation, post-modification testing, and turnover documentation.
  • Prior experience at Brunswick Nuclear Station or another boiling-water reactor facility.
  • Familiarity with station work-management systems, outage planning processes, and project phase-gate reviews.
  • Professional Engineer license or other relevant technical certification.
  • Overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs.
  • Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead assigned nuclear projects through planning, engineering, procurement, implementation, testing, turnover, and closeout.
  • Establish and maintain project scope, schedule, budget, staffing plans, execution strategies, and performance objectives.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and maintain alignment among engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, testing, procurement, quality, and project-controls organizations.
  • Serve as the primary client and station point of contact for project matters.
  • Develop and maintain project work plans, integrated schedules, milestone plans, risk registers, action-item logs, decision logs, and status reports.
  • Monitor project cost, schedule, resource loading, commitments, forecasts, changes, and performance trends.
  • Lead project meetings, readiness reviews, design reviews, planning sessions, walkdowns, and execution coordination meetings.
  • Identify project risks, constraints, interfaces, and emerging issues; develop mitigation strategies and escalate matters when appropriate.
  • Manage scope development and change control, including evaluation of impacts to cost, schedule, quality, safety, configuration, and implementation readiness.
  • Coordinate vendor, contractor, and supplier interfaces, including technical deliverables, procurement activities, field support, and performance follow-up.
  • Support work-order development, outage planning, construction planning, startup, testing, turnover, and closeout activities as applicable to the assigned project.
  • Ensure project deliverables are complete, technically accurate, properly reviewed, and issued in accordance with client and Sargent & Lundy requirements.
  • Promote nuclear safety, quality assurance, configuration control, human performance, and procedural adherence throughout project execution.
  • Maintain effective communication with station leadership, client project managers, responsible engineers, discipline leads, suppliers, contractors, and field personnel.
  • Support lessons learned, continuous improvement, and knowledge transfer across project teams.
  • Lead others in taking engineering problems from issue to solution by setting expectations for using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.
  • Direct automation and process-improvement work, for example, how teams automate calculations, summarize technical documents, or generate design documentation and guiding when and how AI or agentic AI tools are used while ensuring results are checked.
