About The Position

Kimley-Horn's Dallas, Texas (TX) office is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join their MEP team. The ideal candidate will have experience in MEP design and engineering consulting, particularly within the healthcare industry. This role involves supporting mechanical design execution for various healthcare projects, assisting in project management tasks, preparing engineering calculations and system layouts, and ensuring compliance with codes and regulations. The position offers opportunities for career growth into senior-level roles.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in MEP design and engineering for healthcare projects within an engineering consulting environment
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Experience with design software such as Revit BIM, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, and Easypower
  • Proficiency in national and local building codes, including NEC, State Energy Codes, NFPA guidelines, and FGI guidelines
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively on project teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a project management capacity

Nice To Haves

  • A PE license is preferred, but candidates pursuing licensure will be considered

Responsibilities

  • Support mechanical design execution for various healthcare projects under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Assist in project management tasks, including scheduling, coordination, and budgeting
  • Prepare engineering calculations, system layouts, and equipment selections for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Assist in the preparation of cost proposals and project contracts, including add service agreements
  • Participate in MEP systems reviews, engaging with code officials, contractors, architects, and clients to drive compliance and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national codes and regulations
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and contractors
  • Participate in quality control reviews of MEP system designs, calculations, and drawings
  • Provide support to designers and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Gain experience in managing projects, with the opportunity for career growth into senior-level roles
