About The Position

The Materials Project Manager is responsible for coordinating and quantifying continuous improvement projects designed to improve efficiency by eliminating waste and creating value for our customers. This role involves assisting management and team members in establishing projects that align with Continuous Improvement Objectives and the department's vision. The position requires developing project tasks, establishing resources, and performing analysis of project costs, as well as providing data analysis for project returns to assist management in prioritizing projects. The role also involves allocating work, controlling resource pool utilization, tracking root causes, providing corrective analysis, and developing/closing action items. Additionally, the Materials Project Manager will support the Materials Management team in the Distribution Requirements/Resource Planning strategy to determine and satisfy demands for inventory at global distribution centers by optimizing enterprise resource planning applications. This includes conducting weekly reviews with management on continuous improvement objective/project status, maintaining accurate records, and managing vendor-accomplished projects by providing legal documentation, following up on scope of work, and validating invoices. The role also ensures high visibility of project measurements and develops metrics for inventory accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 5 years related experience in project management or materials.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of statistical tools.
  • Must possess project/process management analysis and documentation skills.
  • Must possess computer literacy with enterprise planning tools.
  • Ability to implement problem solving skills or change initiatives at an enterprise level.
  • Ability to lead project teams and implement change.
  • This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Lean Specialist or Six Sigma Green Belt qualified preferred.
  • Experience with Cognos reporting, Microsoft Office suite, iGrafx and/or Visio preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end delivery of business transformation projects using Azure DevOps (or similar tools) to manage scope, backlog, timelines, and progress.
  • Partner closely with Business Functional teams (Planning, Procurement, Operations) and BT teams to translate business needs into actionable project plans.
  • Facilitate and lead project meetings, drive decisions, and ensure clear tracking of actions and deliverables.
  • Hold stakeholders accountable to agreed timelines, priorities, and commitments.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts across departments to ensure alignment and successful execution.
  • Ensure initiatives are properly defined, tested, and deployed with minimal business disruption.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and change impacts, and proactively drive mitigation plans.
  • Provide clear, consistent status reporting and executive updates on progress, risks, and outcomes.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level presentations to communicate progress and value realization.
  • Support adoption of new processes, systems, and ways of working across the organization.
  • Assist management and team members in establishing projects that align with the Continuous Improvement Objectives and vision of the department.
  • Develop project tasks, establish resources, and perform analysis of project costs.
  • Provide data analysis for projects return to department in dollars and/or customer service in an effort to assist management in prioritizing projects.
  • Allocate work and assist in controlling utilization of the resource pool to ensure compliance with project work plan.
  • Establish methods and/or track root causes and provide corrective analysis.
  • Develop, track and close out action items.
  • Assist Materials Management in the support of a Distribution Requirements/Resource Planning strategy to determine/satisfy demands for inventory at global distribution centers by optimizing current and future enterprise resource planning applications.
  • Conduct weekly reviews as required. with management regarding continuous improvement objective/project status.
  • Maintain current, accurate records including bar charts, flow charts, and other tools to track manpower requirements, budget performance and status of project.
  • If project is to be accomplished by a vendor, provide legal documentation to establish, append and follow-up with project scope of work.
  • Validate invoices provided by vendor.
  • Ensure high visibility of project measurements (i.e. PDCA, Dashboard or Metrics).
  • Develop and provide metrics for inventory accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
