About The Position

This position focuses on learning, growth, and development within Barnhill Contracting Company, covering its history, mission, vision, and values. It involves acquiring the skills, roles, and responsibilities necessary for Project Managers/Estimators, progressing towards Division Managers. The role requires delivering or assisting in the safe and effective daily operation of one or multiple projects, supporting project objectives and policies, and monitoring construction and financial activities. Actions will be taken as needed to ensure project goals, objectives, and initiatives are met in alignment with the company's mission, vision, and values.

Requirements

  • Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, HCSS/Agtek, Spectrum, CAD, BlueBeam
  • Basic Understanding of: Construction Technology, Equipment, Means and Methods, Safety and Environmental Regulations (OSHA)
  • Ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of integrity and establish a proactive approach to Values Based Leadership.
  • High level of emotional intelligence.
  • Conflict management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.
  • A four (4) year degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering preferred but not required.
  • 2 years of construction experience.
  • NC Driver License

Responsibilities

  • Learn and develop competency in all aspects of cost and control for job budget set-up and reporting, including timely management of Accounts Payable/Receivable, change management, and fair and reasonable cost negotiations.
  • Lead a single project to implement and maintain a clean and safe work site, and motivate performance to the highest efficiency to exceed project requirements, quality control, and productivity.
  • Work with Project Engineer and Superintendent on high-level reporting of cost and profitability.
  • Gain a deep understanding of all functions, roles, and responsibilities of division leadership and management.
  • Gain a deep understanding of all safety, regulatory, permitting, equipment capacity, and utilization.
  • Engage in learning and growth in personal leadership, leadership development, and people skills.
  • Learn and grow in all skill sets, roles, and responsibilities of estimating and project management.
  • Execute as expected on plans and specifications, takeoff and estimating assignments.
  • Execute as expected on drilling, sampling, and material analysis assignments.
  • Execute as expected on project management assignments.
