About The Position

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager III to join our Generation & Energy Management Team. This role involves leading the execution of diverse generation and energy-focused projects, working alongside industry experts to deliver innovative solutions across power and thermal systems, district energy networks, renewable technologies, and utility infrastructure programs. The position is based in Hartford, CT; Albany, NY; Reading, PA; Atlanta, GA; Tampa, FL; or Knoxville, TN.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Science, Planning, Engineering Management, or related field required
  • Minimum of 9 years of industry experience required, including 6 years of project management experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and interpret client contract requirements
  • Demonstrated experience preparing proposals, project plans, extra work authorizations, and project closeout documents required
  • Experience managing project accounting processes—including forecasting, budgeting, revenue, and cash flow—required
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to solve problems independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and leadership skills with the ability to adapt style for various audiences
  • Ability to travel as needed required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with substation design, district energy, or power generation projects strongly preferred
  • Prior design engineering experience preferred
  • Familiarity with MS Project, Primavera P6, or Deltek Vision preferred
  • Consulting industry experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead proposal development and create clear scopes, schedules, and budgets in coordination with technical teams
  • Serve as the primary client partner, addressing needs proactively and ensuring strong communication throughout each project
  • Develop project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and direct task coordination across multidisciplinary project teams
  • Manage project schedules, deliverables, approvals, and quality controls to keep work on track and aligned with contract requirements
  • Oversee project financials—including budgets, forecasts, revenue, and cash flow—maintaining strong financial performance
  • Direct contract administration, subcontractor coordination, and critical project documentation
  • Lead regular project meetings and provide timely progress updates to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Support marketing efforts, help identify new opportunities, and contribute to the growth of CHA’s Generation & Energy Management portfolio
