About The Position

Puget Sound Energy is looking for a Project Manager to support the Business Lighting Incentive Program. This position will manage the PSE incentive process for a wide variety of customer owned commercial lighting projects. The successful candidate should have experience in project management working on multiple customer/contractor initiated lighting projects at the same time. A deep knowledge of the technical aspects of commercial lighting is necessary as you will be the subject matter expert while working with customers. Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety. Demonstrates commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct. Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations. This job is considered “safety sensitive” as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • At least six years relevant work experience, including managing simple to medium complexity projects.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and techniques to bring about agreement between divergent points of view. Ability to write clear, concise and direct narrative and reports.
  • General knowledge and experience in scheduling, estimating, accounting and finance principles.
  • Experience with methods, techniques and procedures involved in budgeting, procurement and contract administration.
  • Strong knowledge in project management discipline to effectively arrange resources and manage multiple simple to medium complexity projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills for single or multiple technical areas.
  • Strong negotiating and critical thinking skills.
  • Customer-oriented, a positive, team-oriented attitude, flexibility, an understanding of the business issues driving the need for the project, and solid work ethic are expected.
  • Leadership skills that can energize a multidisciplinary work team to respond to business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience in aspects of lighting project development, including understanding both internal and external processes necessary to market, sell, deliver, verify and track lighting efficiency project activity.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, processes and techniques, applied in a utility setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms.
  • Strong customer service experience, and a strong attention to detail.
  • Utility energy efficiency project experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Power BI.
  • LC, CEM credentials or other energy credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple lighting projects in various phases of the construction process at the same time.
  • Evaluate submitted lighting project applications for energy savings potential, including review of the existing lighting system and the proposed lighting fixture and control upgrades to the systems while ensuring compliance of all tariffs and financial procedures.
  • Provide technical and project management functions to customer projects to produce sustainable energy savings by performing or overseeing energy audits of building energy systems including: review of facility energy-usage patterns; detailed analyses of complex efficiency measures including energy use modeling, the applicability and recommendations of measures for achieving greater energy efficiency of measures to customer facilities and operations, final inspection of completed projects, and end-use monitoring of electrical loads with data analysis.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by managing customer expectations by clearly communicating status and next steps.
  • Implement, and assist with the analysis and development of market-centric programs and related tariffs to produce sustainable energy savings more effectively by identifying barriers and developing solutions.
  • Market efficiency programs to eligible customers and various organizations.
  • Implement projects and programs while ensuring compliance of all financial procedures; assist in the development of new and revised department policy proposals to increase effectiveness of programs and services.
  • Maintain positive contractor relationship to ensure positive project development and follow-through.
  • Monitor the development and market acceptability of new energy and lighting technologies.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences, sometimes in public settings.
  • Review internally submitted lighting projects for quality control.
  • Manage the development of new incentive offerings.
  • May provide training and development of team members, as needed, to support program objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
